Alaskan Blue
But why would you put carbs on a rebuild? There was probably more work spent on polishing the fuchs and converting to carbs than it would have taken to fix the FI properly. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I have carbs on a rebuilt motor.
That's not Alaska blue either - they have their info wrong, maybe it WAS Alaska blue at some time.

pullin' some good $ though.

Looks pretty nice, although there is a little to much bling in those wheels for me.

I like some of the new polished rims on the market but those look a little too polished for me. They just don't look right.

I hope the price for that car reflects the true value of a good car.
Also, I hope there are no surprises to be found (at that price).

I don't agree. I like to think if it was in as good shape as claimed then it would have topped the $10K mark.

there were some flaws...they talked about the paint, but there were some scratches on the rear trunk & engine lid IIRC.
Also the engine bay isn't very impressive, dark and dirty. Soooo...in my mind it's wasn't a 10k car...now a real 6 in that condition I'd say $16+.

That's the car I was talking about in my thread. Yes, the engine was dark and dirty. In person the wheels did look good.

How did the rest of the car look?
How was the hell hole?
Did it look like it was worth $7K?

Shooting from the hip I would put the car about $5k. I didn't give it a hard look as I was really there for the three Ferrari's (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) Looked decent, center console, nice looking interior, no obvious dings/scratches/chips. Very shiny bumper caps.

I'm on the other side of the fence. Our cars have been "under-valued" for far too long.
Could it be that we just bought in at the right time in history??? I mean, they are a piece of automotive history. Not a bad history at that... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)
Initially they were diss'd because of their purchase price - not their handling or performance. Today I'll bet that every single sob that bought their early teeners - without the SIX - are kicking themselves in the head - or worse. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/headbang.gif)

Come on, what other "real" sports car can you buy for the $$$ most ALL of us have paid for our rides??? Uhh-huhh. It's a damn short list.

I'll just consider myself blessed to have mine before I possibly couldn't have afforded the smiles per mile. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

I'm waiting for a stock '73 914-2.0 go be valued at around 10G's. Why not???
It's not like I would ever sell 'er. It's about RESPECT.

I've been to this lot before, in fact, 11 years ago the wife and I looked at a 356 there. My first impression has been reinforced by other visits from time to time. They tend to tart up their stock, you know...glycerin on the rubber hoses, a good exterior detail, etc. Then (like most sellers), they double the price that they want for the car and take what they can get. They made a critical mistake that day...not that we would have bought the little coupe, but my wife was asking the questions and the sales lizard was responding to me as if I was the one interested and pretty much ignored her. What a tool.

I didn't go look at this teener but refered a friend. He came away with the same conclusions, reinforcing my original perception: lots of polish and hope that hooks the fish. All that dissing aside, this is one of only a few places in the Portland metro area where you can go see used sports cars of all types, and therein lies the fun. If you put away your P-car prejudices it's fun to see the Italians and the Brits too. Monte Shelton's Jaguar dealership is another nice place for used sports cars. We bought a 911 there a couple of months after visiting this place. A totally different approach to sales...

U talkin' to me? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)
Unfortunately yes, they are seat covers. My pass side seat could pass for close to new. The drivers side has been ripped, torn, & put away wet, BUTT it does have my (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/bootyshake.gif) BUTT imprinted into it's memory.

I've been watching the pepboyz seat thread & trying not to (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/drooley.gif)
& the Revolution wheels, and the megasquirt I need, and the...
