I go back to school tomorrow and I am trying to get my 912 stopping right. I have the calipers all disassembled and cleaned and ready for some new seals. BUT Ive tried all the local auto parts (autozone, kragen, pep boys, and even a local VW shop) and NONE of them have them at their local wharehouse. The earliest I can get the parts is wednesday. But Im going to be in Irvine and unable to work on my car then. Does anyone know of a porsche shop pretty local to me that might have them? I need front and rear caliper rebuild kits. I know I could order from Pelican and willcall, but its like 3 hrs round trip drive...
Anybody? |

Just on a whim, try calling Mesa Performance or Mesa West in Costa Mesa, they are down on Newport Blvd and carry a lot of old BMW and Porsche parts. There is a really good chance they will have what you need. The other place to check would be Hub Auto Supply on Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa, they have surprised me on many occasions with parts I would never expect them to have. Like a fuel pump for a 75 914. What are the odds, they had it in stock. and it was only $109.00 exchange.

Performance Products is in Van Nuys... not too far from you... and they'd probably stock what you're looking for.

Classes start for me on wednesday.
I started to rebuild them, but I need the kits. I thought classes started on thursday, so I was going to rebuild today, but i lost a day, so now I'm going to have to put if off until the weekend. I can order the parts from pelican now. I dont care of they get there on thursday. |

SoCal ain't got nothing to do with it! We got a place in lowly Tulsey Okiehoma that carries in stock ,75% of any 914 part you want. The rest can be here in two days with no shipping cost. I don't believe any part is NLA till I talk to Rick. He gets me lots of parts that no one else can. Rick who? I ain't telling. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

Thanks for the help guys. I know a few places I could have got stuff if I drove a couple of hours, I was just looking localy (to pasadena). I ended up ordering from GPR today, but I'll keep those names in case I need a part in OC.
