I have a great excuse for allowing NFSPU to suck up way too much of my time:
My 6 year old son is addicted too and that is how we spend "quality time". Yeah I know, but the wife buys it. But I still need advice: I'm trying to do the factory driver test that will qualify me as chief driver. It's the one where I have to do a 360 within the cones, then do some slalom work, then another 360. It's in a red carrera, looks like a 996. I've gotten the 360s to register a couple of times but only by doing a 180 with the e-brake which basically makes the car come to a complete stop, then driving a half circle to complete the 360. Obviously that takes up waaay too much time. How duz everyone else get this car to spin all the way around? I never had any trouble doing 360s in previous cars, maybe I should drive em like I drive at AX (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) |

I can't remember but I think you have to do it like in a real car, get 'er going and pull the handbrake to get the spin going then do an opposite turn to keep it spinning. You know how the stunt drivers do it. It's been a long time since I've done those tests, but I think that's how I did it. I use keyboard though, your results may very.

I love NFSPU, I'm glad some are still playing it. I started playing again a couple of weeks ago, this game is still as good as it was 5 years ago when I bought it new! I've always stuck to the keyboard, it works pretty well. A driving wheel would be sweet though, but not really in my budget.
As for doing the 360, for a car that has a lot of grip, try getting the car unstable before you attempt it, like turning from side to side. That always worked for me. |

The 360's are a real pain with the high grip cars. There are a variety of ways to accomplish the 360, but here's how I do it (if I remember correctly). Chris had a good tip about getting the car unstable first. Swerve the opposite direction first and get the car to snap back in the spin direction that you want. I just use brakes and no e-brake. Once you've got the car sliding toward a 180 you need to let off the brakes and flip the car into neutral and turn the wheel to opposite lock. The car will roll backward and finish the 360 - but you must have backward momentum to finish it (just as if you were driving in reverse and simply turned the wheel - the front end would spin around very quickly). That's why you have to let off the brakes and put the car in neutral.
That's how I do it. And yes, it always takes a bunch of tries to get it right - especially if you've got to do more than one in a row. Demick |

FYI, I bought NFSPU for $9.99 at Sams Club about 3 or 4 years ago. Its really a great deal, though I bet it would be tons better if I had a decent steering wheel/pedal set up.

My logitech force feedback wheel and pedals cost $69 at fry's and I'm really happy with it.
The force feedback isn't quite real but it is better than not having it. The wheel will actually vibrate when the steering on the car is damaged, reminds me to slow down and drive smooth instead of using the guard rails as bumpers. |

Were you joking, I have a 914-6 and 916 and turbo 914 (with the TT 993 motor). I guess I DL'd them from a site, they are tons of fun. |
