Wish I had a trailer (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) I was going to suggest Uhaul but figure you'd want an enclosed trailer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/unsure.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) That would be ideal but my old truck is not large enough to pull one of those (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) One way or another I'll get there, just hope we have nice weather that weekend because Knikki has not been rained on in over 35 years (IMG:style_emoticons/default/laugh.gif) |

We've already been working on both cars, transmission's been out and is back in on my car; new exhaust on Clay's. For once, we're going to get stuff done ahead of time!
There's nothing like the adrenalin fueled "thrill" (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) of last minute, late night thrashes (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smash.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/welder.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sawzall-smiley.gif) to teach you to try to be smarter next time. :-D (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving-girl.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) |

At one point we were getting Pappa smuf's engine in and running. We found it had an oil leak in a weird spot in the middle of a cylinder. Turned out there was a crack in one of the cylinders. Found it at 7pm and had the engine back out, torn down new cylinder in place and running for a race the next day! I'm still trying to figure why we were putting the engine in the night before a race anyway. Lol |

Well I don't think I will be removing the transmission to get ready, but I have a list. Which recently got longer after breaking the windshield. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/headbang.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/chair.gif)
Now I have to refinish the chrome strips. Going to use the 914 Rubber trim replacement seal while I am redoing the chrome. Going to replace the CV joints. Get new tires. Mount fire extinguisher. Replace triangle window door seals. Install the new German sail vinyl I got from 914 Rubber. Adjust valves. Get and install new speedo cable. Clean the engine and trans. And a few things I forgot...... |

Prep work for the event is ongoing.
Got the seat cushions done for Betty's car, so she sits higher in the car. The foam was collapsed, and the driver's side had torn. Working on the AC evaporator replacement for the fresh air blower on my car. First thing has been to relocate the wiper motor. Had to move it to the driver's side, and still leave room for the defrost duct and the air flap boxes. I have the evaporator figured out, and it is going to fit very tightly. You know, I should probably start a thread on this, but I am really making it up as I go along. |

Regarding car show classes – can I propose one for “Ugliest Paint Job”? I figure I’d have that one all locked up. Or how about an award for most miles on the car? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/aktion035.gif) We should have some awards for those special cars. But until recently Steve might have the inside track on the worse paint job ! |

The paint on her car is 14 years old, but it is suffering from the clear coat issue. Plus it has some rust spots that need fixing. I have definitely seen worse on a 914. But she probably has the highest mileage locked up. 370,000 and still counting every day to work, plus AX weekends. |

Ok, I admit it… I’ve now printed off the map of the route we’ll take on Friday’s all day drive and it’s hanging up in my cube. All those beautiful twisty bits!!!
