Hmm, next plateau is 80 registrants... we only need 9 more to reach that number... I may have to modify the registration form to allow adding that many extra but I could certainly do that (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)

Of course, there is always the fine print:
must be present to win

So you might as well cancel whatever your other plans are and come on up (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

Just finished regulars sing (that is auto correct version of reglassing) the front air dam and spraying with the closest rattle can match to the side lettering. Autocross tomorrow as a sort of shakedown cruise. Here it could be snowing for the trip back (back if we are lucky). We are getting psyched. Getting old too so it ain't gonna be 700+ miles in one go. Have to think of a touch down point part way. I bought a GPS receiver from aircraft spruce that makes my ipad know where I am. Psyched.

You say that like the Pope isn't a Personal Friend of Mine! We just got done knockin down some Rolling Rocks at Happy Hour! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/drunk.gif)

Tell you what TC....if the Pope shows up, I'll make sure you get some really cool door prize! (assuming, of course, that you register and pay....yeah, more fine print!)

The way we do door prizes is:
- Each big prize (most of what Mike has gotten) will be on display and has a container associated with it.
- Each registrant gets a bunch of tickets (as many door prizes that there are) with your name on them.
- You put as little or as many of your tickets into the containers of the items you're interested in. You can put one in each, a couple here and there, or all in one depending on what you're interested in winning. This way, you don't win something that you have no interest in.

so...to Mike's point, the chances that 1) you have a friend up here you can trust will enough to put your name in for the things you want and 2) that if you DO win you will actually ever find out and recieve your loot is slim to none. If you want to win some of the cool stuff...sign up and get your butt up here!!

We got ya covered, Chris.

It has come to our attention that there are still rooms available at Tremont Lodge as of today. If you have reservations further out, you may want to consider relocating (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
• Tremont Lodge & Resort 865-448-3200 (formerly Valley View Lodge - site of last year's event)

And... we are now at 75 registrants representing 46 914s (IMG:style_emoticons/default/cheer.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/w00t.gif)

This is shaping up to be an historic gathering of 914s.
I'd drive to the event if it wasn't for a family commitment I have that weekend.
My last time on the Dragon was awesome!

OK I do t know about yours but my current car cover swallows my 914 whole with plenty of room to spare.

Microbead Car Covers has sent us one of their custom fit car covers. This thing has straps to keep if from blowing off, has a UV coating, is water resistant, and has a lifetime warranty!

Going to try it out on my car and get some pictures of it on a 914. This cover is valued at over $200. I think it would make a great prize for many of us!

Anyone up for one of these for your car?

OK guys I mad a mistake. I misread what Microbead sent. Completely my fault!

They sent a Convertible Top Cover as shown below.

Attached Image

But Dan at Microbead really covered my butt. He is providing a select fit cover also. So the winner can pick which one they want. Dan is also sent a limited number of covers that he is giving the attendees the chance to buy at a very good price.

Here are a few things to check before you leave so, hopefully, you won't need spares.
1-Check transaxle gear lube level.
2-Check for debris in the engine fan also check the alternator belt.
3-Buy a cheap "pick up tool" the kind that has 4 steel "fingers" and a spring plunger that extends them. Remove all 4 spark plug connectors and maneuver the tool thru the sheet metal in several directions to grasp any nesting material that might be found. You will need to remove the sheet metal to thoroughly clean if you find any. Plug any gaps in the engine compartment that would allow "recycling" the already heated air from below.
4-Have a working oil temp gauge or purchase a dipstick thermometer from Mainely by Design. Maximum sustained oil temp? Every "expert" has a different number. I believe F 250 is too hot.
5-Check CV bolts for tightness. ALWAYS replace the serrated lock washers when removing a CV.
6-Check for rust in the inner trailing arm mounts and open up the drain holes at the bottom of the mount.
7-Pack the outer front wheel bearing, check for ulcerations on the rollers (replace both inner and outer wheel bearings if found), add some additional wheel bearing grease behind the outer to lube the inner bearing.
8-Grab a hand full of wrenches and check tightness of drivetrain mounts, engine to trans fasteners, front and rear suspension fasteners.
9-Check condition of all fuel hoses, carry a fire extinguisher!
10-Check for loose wires, exhaust system including muffler support bracket, shift bushings (see if you can break away a section of the bushing with an ice pick) wipers and wiper blades, brake lights, turn signals (be a Porsche driver, use them!) headlight aim, all other lights including dash and finally, probably should be the first on the list, brakes, condition of pads and rotors, check reservoir, see if they will lock up all 4 on dry pavement.
In addition to the list of spares above, a fuel pump and head temp sensor (with tool) might be helpful. Brad Mayeur

I think you should drive Valentine up to the Smokies one weekend so you can "earn" the sticker. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/happy11.gif)
I bet I could convince Mike and a few other locals to drive der Nebelbergring with you.
