Probably not as much of a celebrity to most of you, but Famous Disk Jockey here in the DFW area who went by the name of RedBeard used to own a Yellow 76 2.0. I recently met the current owner of that car, and he has the paperwork to prove it.

THere is also a local radio host here in Tampa/Orlando area that has one. He drives it everyday to work. Mark Larsen is his name, good guy. Can't really say he's an A-list celebrity. Web site for the show is

If the 911 braked unexpectedly on a straight I'd have to ask what was HE thinking? Didn't Newman also ball up a car at Monterey not too long ago?

Actually, it was a section of straight track between turns 3 and 4. I have no idea why the 911 applied his brakes.
From my view point, the 911 driver caused the crash.

Newman started in 4th position and worked his way to 2nd when this happened on the last lap.

Mr. Newman isn't just a famous actor who stumbles around a race track. He won the national championship in his class a number of years back. He's older now, but was the real deal as a race driver.

I saw that car 6 months later at the Moroso HSR event and it was put back together. It looked perfect. I asked Bob Snodgrass (owner of Brumos Porsche) if that was the Newman car and he said yeah. We rebuilt it just to show everyone that it could be done. If I'm not mistaken that was a 4 cyl. car.

Ok there's a extensive Seinfeld thread going right now, so I thought I'd start one about celebrity 914 owners. This is only KNOWN celebrities who are KNOWN to own or have owned a 914. Feel free to chime in, but no speculation here, just the facts ma'am, just the facts. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif)

Wouldn't it be cool to track some of these people down, and have thier 914 stories added to my yet to be started, (yet to be totally committed to writing) 914 book???

The few that I know about:

Ann B. Davis from The Brady Bunch

Leif Garrett 70's teen idol

Brian Redmond famous Porsche racer

Peter Gregg ditto above (x2 the racer part)

Peter Gregg may be a hard one to track down...He's dead . I do know Simon.
