Okay folks, I need some advise here. I am bidding on a car this weekend. The executor of the estate wants the interested parties to gather this weekend and write down there highest offer on a piece of paper. Only 2-3 other people bidding.
I am thinking I should put "I bid $100.00 over the highest offer."
Anyone have a better idea.

By doing that, is that considered a bid?

You just have to be willing to pay that much. Maybe if it were something that someone didn't know the real value of, like a 914-6 M471 or whatever it is, or something of the like, then it would probably be okay. Sounds like you are taking a chance though because maybe one of the guys owned that same car, and he wants to have the exact same one again.

Of course, you could always back out of it too.

From the pictures and knowing what they go for, I would guess that car could go for as high as 15k to 18k. If that is what you are looking for, I could probably find you one down here for about the same money. There is Ford dealer close to here that rebuilds and restores them all the time. The come out better than the factory built them.

I recommend not giving a overage bid. What if you have somebody who is willing to go to $100k? Are you willing to go $100,000.01?

Oh, I thought last week you were bidding on a 64 mustang convertable. Maybe I had it confused with this one. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)
