Chappy, if you're using the CIS from the n/a 911, make sure that your injector Orings are fresh/ and rubbery. It is possible for high boost to actually push the injector out of its holder and spray the engine (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ar15.gif) The 930 style will thread into bosses and prevent this. NOT a big concern...just watch the o-rings for signs of hardening !The big red boots look like my old pal Bob McClure's (BAE Turbos)...
Big boost is good emmmkay ! |

This was Evil Ed's old car, do a search and you'll find more plumbing pictures, some with the motor out of the car....we are "still" waiting for dyno numbers (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) |

Beautiful car great color. Its the color I would choose if I was to do it over again.
I replaced all of the injector sleeves and o rings and sealed in sleeves with a little JB when I started my project. You are right, I used a Bae kit for the intake boots and plumbing. 7th injector handles the A/R enrichment. |

Thanks! Aaron for uploading my pics. My photo editor software wouldn't let me change the resolution.
That is EviEd's old car, the color that ED used when he painted it (kudos to him) is Azure Blue. The bumpers and fog lights are from my Clone project also the 15x8 Fuchs. The front struts were swaped for Bilsteins from a 87' 930 with vented rotors and 911S aluminum calipers, the rears were swaped with 914-6 calipers that were spaced to accept 911 carrera vented rotors. A Weltmeister rear swaybar was added. The seats are Konigs, I also replaced the dash trim with perforated aluminum and recovered the door panel and installed a set of black rugs. |

It's a very odd-driving car. Well, not really, but... It is definitely deceptive! When I took it for a drive, my first thought was, "Where's the power? I thought this thing had some power!" Then I realized that I had just run out of revs in 3rd gear. And it didn't take much time at all to do that from a standing start.
There wasn't any firm push back in the seat, not like with (then-) Dunkel's 3.0 car. But before you knew, you were at rather high speeds. How the heck do you get a car from a low speed to a high speed without accelerating?? I don't get it... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif) --DD |

Dave, Turbos don't really make any more power, they just increase the PFM (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

My wife's hopped up (250 HP) 1.8T Audi is similar to that. Engine spins up quickly but car doesnt feel like its real fast. One thing I have noticed is that acceleration sensation in any car is greatest at slower speeds. Maybe its that intial turbo lag at low rpm in first gear compared to a bigger 6? If I rev the Audi to point where boost kicks in and then drop the clutch in first gear I get pushed into the seat pretty good. If I dont grab boost on the launch the car moves quick, but more progressively. |

Hey, that brings an interesting idea to mind... 918S turbo... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) C'mon, Rich--it's not that much more work than you've already done, just fab the exhaust to run to a turbo (or maybe two!!). I'm sure it would do just fine on low boost, like 7 PSI.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Very nice looking ride!!!
I have a 73 that we are in the middle of installing a Subaru WRX 2.0 turbo engine. They claim 227 hp with 217 ft/lbs @ 4000 RPM. The stock turbo produces a claimed 13.5 lbs of boost pressure. Once we are finished, I will give further details on performance as well as pics... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) |

BTW right now the boost is set at 9lbs. for the street which produces approx. 160HP. Ed ran the car a Watkn Glen on 100 octane fuel with the boost set at 14lbs.

The first test drive I took in my car I had the boost controller hooked up wrong, the boost gauge read 18lbs (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif) wow that was G load push back in the seat., and a real eye opener. I am running a safe 9lbs now, but you still feel the push.
