Car has a total repaint...now getting wet sanded....and time to figure out some details.

The engine compartment...has the 2 upright braces that, at the very top, receive the rubber bumper on each side (threaded to screw into the hold at the top of the brace)

The top of the brace is to be painted black, to match the black on the engine lid, the grill, etc..

Painter asks me..."is it a hard line, or a soft line".....he is referring to the "transition" on the side of the brace, about 1/8 inch down, where the black ends, and the body color starts.

I think...good question....I can't remember...car didn't have original paint...
Have checked the originality forum, can't find the answer or definitive picture.

SO

Does painter mask off and apply black paint...

Or

take a brush and apply soft line of black, to meet glorious signal orange....?

Thanks
