Which fuel filter type are you using? Since fitting one to my FI 1700 1973 car the engine is lumpy....Can they restrict the fuel flow and affect the injection?? It was running great before I fitted it along with a new Temp Head Sensor last week.

Could it be installed backwards?
If so, the filter element may be smashed down restricting flow. Most filters flow into the center.

I would check fuel pressure. May not be the filter is the problem.
