Downtown Tulsa, there used to be a little Restaurant owned by two ladies. Had seating for about 11. They would go to the market in the early AM and get everything fresh. Sign outside said "Breakfast, Lunch & Cigarettes". Is it still there?

Cool you guys hooked up and ran. Pics look great. If it wasn't 22 hours away, I would join you.

Ok Mike, Scott and the rest of you pikers....you know what it takes to put a BAJA run together and iffin ya don't, maybe Whipped (Red-Beard) will chime in.

Any of you Arizona guys up for a Route 66 Ramble? Maybe from Williams to Oatman (or vise versa)? I would gladly drive down to join you. We might even get a few of the California hard core crazies to come over.

I never get my pics posted in time! Everyone always beats me to it - so my shots look like old news. That's okay - I'll post some anyway. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Slits, I'm pretty sure that cafe you're talking about is the same one that Leon Russell used to hang out at alot. Curt probably knows for sure.

Here is that sign again. Motels have the most creative signs around. And since they tend to stay in business forever, they are the ones that survive the longest.

That silver car used to be mine. It's the one that landed me on this forum. It's someone else's bad luck piece now. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Here's the "gang". This shot is different from Curts. Mine doesn't have my camera and tripod in the shot.

Slits, can't remember the name of the restaurant, but its gone for 20 years now. Lots of urban renewal in downtown. It was next door to the Three Sisters Lounge. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beer3.gif)

Here we are going around the lake. I'm tailgating Kevin trying to get him to close up the gap. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

Around the lake was the only curvy road anywhere near Stroud.

914RS - you're right. There are some great roads in the Lawton/Ft. Sill area and the Wichita Mountains are some of the oldest around. I race in the 12 Miles of Hell every year and I can attest that they are definitely "mountains".

In the southeast we have the Quachita and Kiamichi mountains with hwy #1 making up the Talimnena Drive which runs for sixty miles along the ridge. Some of the best 914 blacktop in the country. Never pass up the opportunity to drive this road!

But.... unfortunately, no curvie stuff in central Oklahoma other than on/off ramps (I know the best of them intimately). (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I've got some pics returning from Stroud to post after dinner.

JR, we're going to put together an early spring ramble for Talimena Drive and will be sure to try and hookup all the north Texas folks. Here's a shot taken from hwy #1 last october. Doesn't show any curves, but in the background you can see the tops of about 3 other sets of mountains. Fantastic road. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif)

Trade winds motels. East, West, and Central. East and central are still there, but have different names, and are middle eastern owned now. East still has some of the best blues in town. I took flight lessons at Harvey Young. It's still there, but almost swallowed up by the urban growth.

Branson? A measley 3 1/2 hours from T town. Any of you Mo guys up for it? Gotta be a mid winter thing. Traffic sucks once all the country music shows start their season.

Joseph is correct. Ok hwy 1 (Talimena Drive) is one of the most awesome roads you'll every encounter. It's been rated as one of the top ten sports car roads in America. Runs along the very top of the mountain ridge. See my avatar. Everyone in the area, come join us. It's gonna happen. We'll set a date by the end of the month.

Dinner was good...Polish sausage & cabbage... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif)

On the way back from Stroud, needed some gas so we stopped in at this brand new Texaco filling station - trustin' our car to the man who wears the star...

It reminded me of this song:

"Well, I was driving down the freeway
When my car ran out of gas.
Pulled over to the station
But I was afraid to ask.
The servicemen were yellow
And the gasoline was green.
Although I knew I could not
I thought that I was gonna scream.
That was on my last trip to tulsa
Just before the snow.
If you ever need a ride there,
Be sure to let me know."
