Trying to get to 20 units for the best discount. Currently at 11 sold (4/17/14)

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) I also bought one similar to the $80 ebay ad but I think I got mine from the Samba....looks the same to me. It works ok and I was able to drill holes
for locking pins with my step drill. However, it does make certain things very difficult.
I was able to put on/take off my flywheel to check endplay but it is pretty tight. I don't think you could do the clutch disc/pressure plate though. If I was buying again, I'd go for the better one.

I bought on also with the 4 spokes, the VW engine is so lite there is no warpage, and you can easly rotate the engine. it's no brainer.
those from pelican are overkill, and how many times are you going to build an engine.

Hummm! I bought the less expensive model last year and am now finally ready to start using it. I still have to get holes drilled for the pins etc...

When building a /4 you will not be able to install the #3 piston pin with that design.

I should know I have 4 stands, except for this exact one, that was given to me last year, I have made or modified my other 3.
This design is good for a /6, but none of my /4 builds will go on it.
I do have a 5 arm that works with /4 but the middle arm is modified.

(BTW this one will work for a /4 in a pinch, but you have to remove it to install the #3 piston pin. PITA IMHO)

Remove it to install the #3 piston pin? Why? From P-car school on, I've always removed and installed that pin from the right side as you face the piston. Comes right out, goes right in, and there's NOTHING in the way. Removal requires a slide hammer, but you should have one of those anyway. I can show you how to make the adaptor, and you CAN try this at home ............................

As for the stand head itself, I would never throw my money at that el-cheapo thing. I'm in for the good one. PM on the way. Once it's in hand, my old factory engine stand head will be on the market. 911 engines like to be on a stand sturdy enough to take the weight ..........................

So, looking at the Pelican thread, the ones in the GB seem to built by some guy on the forum, and are NOT the ones pictured. The one in the E-bay ad appears to be made by SIR Tools in Nor Cal, and Oliver's stuff is absolutely 1st class. Are these gonna be that good? Can I trust my $15K (or more!) 911 engine to one of these? Is the $50-75 I save by buying this gonna turn around and bite me? Granted, I don't know the guy, and he may very well be just the right man for the job, but how do I know that?

Yep you can...but my way of is so way faster and less hassle than the old school method, but each their own.

If you read further in the thread it started as a guy on the forum building them, but it switched to a GB of the ones pictured, looks like the seller became a member to facilitate the gb. I never saw any connection to sir tools, looks like these might come from China, Quality Specialty Components...

Hey, so who's using this yoke now?
How do you like it so far?

What's the difference between this QSC and Sir Tool product?

I have got the heavy duty clamp (P201) bolted on my engine stand and is metric(60mm) so my new yoke needs to be exact size or bit smaller. The one on samba would not fit since they are all 2-3/8" of diameter in the shaft size.
