In the first pic I have 7x15 Fuchs with 205/50/15 tires + stock fenders. Fuchs were 911R with bigger ET.
In the second pic I have 7x16 Fuchs with 205/50/16 in front and 205/55/16 in rear. The trailing arms in rear are 20mm narrowed both sides. 7x16 Fuchs with 225/50/16 tires. Had to pull the fenders out a bit. Hey Spoke! I have the same 4 of the 7x16 Fuchs I'll be putting on my car soon. Are you running 7"s in the front and what size front tires? Did you have to use spacers with the front wheels to keep them from rubbing the innner fenders? What kind of tires are you running? Sorry for all the questions but you've done it already and any info is appreciated. I'm running 6x16 with 205/50/16 tires. No spacers, no clearance issues. |

Do you have any pictures of the modifications you did the the trailing arms? I have a set of 7x16 Fuchs that I'll be putting on my car. I love the way yours look with both the 15" & 16" wheels but prefer the look of the 16' wheels like yours in the second picture. That is a beautiful car! Why did you go with 205/55's in the rear? I was thinking of going with 205/50's front and rear on mine. What type tires are you running? |

I started out trying to roll the lip and ended up going a bit further (IMG:style_emoticons/default/blink.gif) Now, room for 8's! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beer.gif) |

My v8 car had 7's with 215/ 55 or something like that. 215 for sure. I still have the tires that I bought from Duc. The rear lip was made flat for around 12 inches. This is a picture of the car before I bought it with the tires on the 7s.
It got a 6 conversion and I got the car as body only sent down from Camp 914. They where driving it with the wheel and tires and I do not see any rubber on it. I looked at it today when it went vertical on my rotisserie today. Bob Burton |

Will it work? Of course it will, as a lot of people have demonstrated. Here, 7x16 911 Fuchs front and rear with 215/45/16's, rears rolled and pulled. I prefer narrowbodied cars anyway, so pulling the fenders beats the hell out of weldeng on flares and repainting the whole car.

Does anybody have the wheel offset / backspace front and rear handy for these listed wheels ??? That would be a help in determing spacer thickness if needed.

I was thinking of going with 205/50's front and rear on mine. What type tires are you running? I made these about 12 years ago. Here are couple of pics. In the #1 is the jig. I had to make both sides own jig. #2 One done. See the difference. #3 Painted. #4 Installed with 911 e-brake. Tires are just normal tires. I bougth 205/55´s first, but they were too big in front. Then chanced to 205/50´s in front. I like the look and the end gearing with bigger rear tires is a little better. I am surprised no one has offered an aftermarket Control Arm. Aluminum maybe (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) Someone did. Camber and toe were set at the wheel bearing end, not the body end of the arm. I believe they sold exactly two of them. --DD |

I would think a 7R offset would work...but I've never seen a set, much less tried them on my car. My 16x6 with 205 tires all around work for me.
I'd rather have a custom set of wheels made to fit than mess with the rear arms or fenders. |

I had purchased these 7" Boyd wheels with 205-55/16 tires hoping they would fit my stock '76 914. Unfortunately, they rub on the rear and I had to put the original steel wheels back on. I really didn't want to alter the stock wheel wells as this 914 is truly a survivor.

Zach, I just remembered that Mark Skala had cookies on his stock /6 Reach out to him, he knows all about making wide wheels fit. rich I used the 6", which are never a problem. Many things going on in this thread. The issue with the wider wheels on the rear of the 914 has been gone over forever. The porsche offset for the 7" fuchs is 23mm, so they stick out more than the 6" or 5 1/2" wheels. The fender lip starts squeezing in toward the bumper, so cutting the little brace at the front of the wheel is not going to do very much. For something that is going to fit with the least hassle, you need between 35 and 40 mm offset. Boxster 7x16 is 40mm and works well. Or, look at any of the later 944/928 wheels that were 52mm offset, and just use a 1/2" spacer. Everything is slightly different based on the tire you're going to use, camber you're running and spring rate as well as the hand-built nature of the car. Also, don't try to use something that has an 1/8" gap between the tire and any part of the lip (or inner wheel well). Tires move; a lot if you are going to autocross. I have video. Right now I have 7 1/2" x 16 made from Fuchs centers and BBS halves. Wheels are not a problem as I made them with the right offset, however the Kumho 215/40/16 autocross tires are the absolute limit for width. I'm losing the paint on the inner wheel wells and am barely okay on the outside with some basic pulling. This is with a lot of camber. |
