Is it too far fetched to have a group of 914 owners agree on a rebuilt engine [you know like a Raby 2270] and put together a production run?

Just a thought (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif)

I understand it's a bit of a fantasy but just think of the potential. A limited edition with specialy painted tins, etc...could be pretty cool...and potentially very desirable (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

Jake did this a few months back with a run of six engines. They got snapped up pretty quickly so it probably could be done if Jake wanted to do it again.

Maybe next year...I'll need Nickies for my bug by then (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

I would SERIOUSLY consider the engine group buy, as long as there was enough notice given to save up for the costs. Maybe even if we could make "payments" although I understand the accounting nightmare that could be for the engine builder. Give it enough time for us "po' folk" to gather up the resources, and I think more people would be inclined to participate. Don't make it a "one month" or "2 week" special!!!

When the hell is that KC 'jection rig gonna be a thing?

I'd like crankfire, and that thing... before I unload large magnum thingy into 'Bertram, the Wonder Sub'.

I agree. BTDT got burned. I might participate in another group buy but I'l NEVER head one up again.

I did one group buy but never again.

I was trying to create six like engines that are really good at doing a multiple arrangement of things from the same combination....

It seems that no matter how hard we tried I still ended up customizing them for the customer in some way anyhow- defeating the purpose entirely and creating a loss of revenue.

Now that I have yet again cut down on my volume quota for the year there is no possibility of doing anything like this from my shop. Engine wise our labor went up 15% in 2005 as each engine gained 3 more days of schedule time for its development and testing.

I'm adding a different "twist" to things around here and the engines will still be built, only in lower numbers and higher quality as we put into work those developmenst of the last few years into each one as a standard....

It WILL be getting easier and cheaper to own a "Raby inspired designed and prepared engine" in 2005. The only kicker is that you'll have to assemble it yourself- But never fear, we'll even supply you with ALL the tools you will need to do it if need be!

Everything is about to change! If my plan works !!!!

So.. if I start saving now... how long before I can afford one? Will you require a "core" engine? what size case would you need, etc.??? (might as well start planning for the future, as it approaches faster than we can imagine)
