The huge dam (Prado Dam) a mile from my house (also 300feet lower and downstream from my house) has a leak/seapage issue... so much water backed up behind the dam that it flooded the corona municipal airport under 8 feet of water....

they evacuated 1000 people who are a mile west of the dam....

Army core of engineers have the dam stabilized (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

cool to watch from a civil engineering student point of view (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

I read somewhere that there use to be a city located right in the middle of that dam, and after a number of floodings, they built the dam, which obviously, buried that city. That area gets alot of runoff from Chino, etc.

i guess the dam broke in the 1930's (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif) flooded most of Orange County.
as i drove by the dam on my way home from school...was still 3/4 of the way to the top... looks like it got dang near the top!

never knew a city was down there (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif) thats kinda neat to know (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

Color me nervous, my house is several miles downstream and less than 500 yards from the banks of the river.
And me with no flood insurance.
I've never lost $700k before and I'm hoping this won't be my first. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

Aaron, so you're on the southside of the 91? and  the riverbeds on the northside, right?

dam is NORTH of the 91 and EAST of the 71 then the river turns west and continues west to the ocean.....

i live South of the 91 freeway up in the sierra del oro area.

Nice area there. Commute is brutal, my mom and dad use to live on the east end of Corona, just off California and the 15 FWY. That area is just booming, I use sell new homes in South Corona too. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif) In fact I just turned down a job in Corona because of the commute through Riverside on the 91 FWY, 43 miles one way from Hemet, figured one and a half hours min each way.
