Hello there Texans (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I am interested in the smog laws in Texas. Is there annual inspections ?
Here in California, cars 1975 and older are exempt from the yearly smog checks.
Is there something similar in Texas ? What about engine swaps ?? How does the local DMV deal with these swaps ??

Thanks in advance.
Ted

Hell yah, just put some steer horns on there and you'll be exempt.

(Since nobody else woke up under their ten gallon, I figger I'd stir it up a little)

Seriously though..... I would suspect that at least in some TX counties, there are no smog laws?

I think everything you need should be here:
http://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/vi/

It does vary by county. More populous counties are tougher.

Only some counties in Texas require smog checks. I know Austin and Houston have smog checks, but we don't here in San Antonio. At least not yet any way.

Only a safety check. Lights horn wipers brakes.

I have historic plates on mine, and there's NO checks, smog or safety.

Not long after moving to Dallas many years ago I remember reading that it had something like the fifty worst air quality in the country. Having grown up in Los Angeles I had not idea how that could be possible in such flat Texas surroundings.

Then I found myself in classic Metroplex traffic. Mystery solved... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif)
