Hello there Texans (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)
I am interested in the smog laws in Texas. Is there annual inspections ? Here in California, cars 1975 and older are exempt from the yearly smog checks. Is there something similar in Texas ? What about engine swaps ?? How does the local DMV deal with these swaps ?? Thanks in advance. Ted |

Hell yah, just put some steer horns on there and you'll be exempt.
(Since nobody else woke up under their ten gallon, I figger I'd stir it up a little) Seriously though..... I would suspect that at least in some TX counties, there are no smog laws? |

I think everything you need should be here:
http://www.dps.texas.gov/rsd/vi/ It does vary by county. More populous counties are tougher. Gary |

Only some counties in Texas require smog checks. I know Austin and Houston have smog checks, but we don't here in San Antonio. At least not yet any way.

I have historic plates on mine, and there's NO checks, smog or safety.

Not long after moving to Dallas many years ago I remember reading that it had something like the fifty worst air quality in the country. Having grown up in Los Angeles I had not idea how that could be possible in such flat Texas surroundings.
Then I found myself in classic Metroplex traffic. Mystery solved... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/icon8.gif) |
