Thanks, Brad, for the Monza offer. I know Rusty was hoping they'd all rusted away and we wouldn't be able to find one.
Regarding the comment that with ladies on the board you'd all have to 'clean your act up'...don't worry about me. Heck - I even like Zois' 'bouncing lady' avatar....but....really, guys, you couldn't help drop an engine with those things in the way....trust me. -Pam |

You could probably cut the muffler out of the Bursch and weld a different one in its place. If you check out Jegs or Summit, they've got dozens of different flavors.

Check out E-bay. There's a NOS Ansa Muffler that looks a lot like the Monza muffler...

Things are looking up for me!! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mueba.gif) Thanks for the eBay links... a new one would be preferrable to one that's already started it's rapid decent into the salty pit of rust-dom. |

Last week I swapped my stock mufflers(Ugliest pieces of crap i've ever seen and it sounds worse than it looks) from my 75' 2.0 for a MONZA(the one only Losers use) and I have no regrets whatsoever!
I did lose some low-end torque (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) , but definitely gained some top-end hp (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) , and the Monza is like half of the weight (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) . $40 Monza Muffler= (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) lots of smiles! I can't beelieve that I drove my 914 for over a year with those mufflers. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif) |

Apparently Lawrence hasn't tired of trying to convince me the Monza exhaust was NOT what I wanted for the Bee (although I took the one and only positive Monza post as a small victory). In our conversation today, he asked me what it was I liked about the Monza (I'm sure this breaks some 'guy' rule about direct communication but don't kick him out of the club - he was motivated by the frightening thought of driving the Bee with the Monza).
Here's the list of why I like the sound of a Monza (I've excluded the obvious accessory reason satisfied by the cute little horse sticker that matches the Bee): 1) It sounds sexy in a low throaty way 2) It is loud enough to disguise the sound when I miss a shift 3) It makes the car sound like more than it is 4) People hear the car (safety? anyone buying that? hey...we had to disconnect the horn - I want them to HEAR me coming) Looks wise - I agree the 4 tips might not look like it fits really well with the valance on the Bee. So....with that list - can anyone in the group suggest a muffler that would be the same sort of sound without the offense of the Monza look?? -Pam PS - Brad - I know you were putting together the package with the muffler - I appreciate you getting that ready right away but Lawrence has convinced me its not really what I want. |

Its not a problem.. I dont like them personally.. but I try not to force my "likes and dislikes" on people.
The Bursch is the best bang for the buck.. and widely accepted. I wish I had a SSI 914-4 muffler for you.. B |
