I am thinking of building an engine later this year (like next fall) and I’m waiting to see what Raby Aircooled Technology has planed in a few weeks. I read some place that the sound of a 2270 with Nickies is awesome. This is what I plan to build (or if something that I have planed comes through, I would get RAT will build it in 06). Since I haven’t heard the 2270 with Nickes, does anyone have a mp3 or wav file (or anything) so I can listen to on my computer?

Thanks,
Michael

Tom Perso has a sound file of his 2270. Do a search for him.

Just wait!!!!!!!!!

as for sound, don't go with any engine just because the way it sounds!

The sound is music to my ears, but that really don't mean a damn thing.

Also, the Nickies don't change the sound, just the cost and the running temps and performance possibilities..

Sorry to highjack the thread for a minute, but i wanted to know if there are any sound files of the tangerine header. I have heard the one on the tangerine site. more specifically, i wanted to hear the difference between the stage 1 and stage 2 silencer and muffler. Trying to get an idea of which one i want to use on my 2563 kit i just got from jake. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

I’m not going for sound. It will just inspire me to hurry up with my “other” project to make this happen.
Jake you may not remember (I know you talk to a lot of people) but we spoke last summer about an engine. I keep going back and forth about you doing it or me.
Right now I have SSI and a Burcsh and love the sound. Just didn’t know what or if there was a difference.

I have some videos of my 2270 when it was in my Bug. Pretty wicked.

Driven to church, only on Sundays. LOL

Startup with a Flowmaster

Breaking the clutch in

Warming the tires

Pissing the neighbors off

4th gear at 5000rpm

So, there ya go...

Yikes! That sounds awful! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/icon8.gif) Sounds like an exhaust leak. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/barf.gif)

That doesn't do it justice..

Between gear shifts it sounds amazing, more like a ALMS car with just the Phase 9 silencer and no quiet can!

I am getting ready (tomorrow) to test the phase 9 against a Aero Turbine muffler from www.aero-turbine.com. They sent me one for testing... I think it will sound wild, and it will be nice to compare the differences to the Phase 9

I just exploded the dyno doing the test work a few minutes ago and it make take a few days to get it back up again... and a few hundred bucks as well.

They're off down the road a little bit - out of the view.

Jake when you say you blew the dyno is that to say you blew a motor in the dyno or you built to tuff a motor for the dyno and dammaged the machine? Do some motors fly apart on the dyno as in pieces sailing through the air? Id bet it can happen. Put may half baked motor on there and there would be a mess to clean up.

I snapped the driveshaft that links the engine to the waterbrake!

I have blown engines on the dyno, but normally pieces never absolutely fly... It doesn't happen often and normally only with really risky- pushing the envelope stuff!

Tell me about it.... (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I actually bent the body in the back where I had a rear engine hanger going to the bumper supports.
