I saw this ad on ebay...

MC Repair Kit

It lists all these cars as having a common MC repair kit. Does anyone know if any of these other master cylinders are the same as a 911? Most of them seem to be cheaper. I looked at some of the pictures of other ads on ebay and some seem to be close while others look nothing like it.

Anyone used anything other than a 911 master cyl to upgrade a 914 without modification?

You can use a Mercedes Benz 23 mm...some racers do....but ya gotta dent the front suspension cross tube....Don't remember which model MB though.

Without know the mfgr of the kit and having their catalog, it is hard to say that this kit will fit all those cars. Based on experience in the auto industry, I can believe what they say.

The decreased price may be that it is an aftermarket kit and not the OE ATE kit.

Wilwood makes a new master cylinder thats almost a bolt in replacement. Comes as a 1" bore 25mm. You need to get adapters for the bubble flare (porsche )brake lines to sae. Less than $100 I'll post a link later.

Of course, if you use either of these MCs w/o making any other changes, you'll need Ahnold legs to get any braking.

Has anyone installed that? Got Pics.?

I'm putting on a late model front suspension with carrera calipers, so I think I definately need an upgrade. For now I plan on using the stock rear calipers and maybe install an adjustable valve if needed.

I want to keep an e-brake, it seems like everywhere I park has a hill, and the wheel chock thing is just slightly emarrasing.(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

I do prefer a hard pedal, but not Ahnold hard.

I so agree! That is one component I don't compromise on. The liability issue is far too great for one thing.

So with safety being the biggest concern, and my set-up. Woud you say the 911 19mm Master is the recommended way to go?

I have rebuilt a lot of calipers and MCs when we were racing, so I tend to disagree. That said, I will say I had rigged up a bench tester to make sure they would hold. One of the important keys is a non-scratched or pitted bore and we had the tools to refurbish them.

If you do not have this capability, buy it new....period

I've got the wilwood master cylinder on my 914 with 911 "A" calibers on the front and "m" front calibers as the rears with a adjustable wilwood proportioning Valve and pedal is rock hard with very little pressure.
