A Conversion? This could be all over the Place with a Monterey Crowd. On one hand they are there to buy Big Bucks cars & could ignore this completely and it sells for $18,000 Or a couple of Drunk Rich Boys think that it is a Real 914-6 and Bid each other up til it sells for $65,000

Seems misleading to list it as a 914-6 .... With no mention of a conversion other than listing the 3 liter 911 engine.

Yeah I saw that too. No driver side side marker.
I don't think the description is misleading.

To the initiated, there is nothing misleading at all. The VIN shows it to be a '73, it says it has a 3.0 liter 911 motor. I wouldn't begin to guess what it would go for but with the rocketry that real six values have experienced, it follows that a really well done conversion will go along for the ride. Will he exceed his $75k in receipts? Probably not but I suspect the number will offend the 914 guys with a strong VW mentality.

These aren't throw-away cars any longer. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/dry.gif)

if I was a multi-millionaire with little concern for money, I'd bid up to $50K on it. I couldn't do it myself for that.

First pic is a stock photo of a very nice real Euro 6. That's balls.
As I first read it I thought Holy Cow ! somebody found a single car that was actually manufactured in '73
Of course it's common knowledge that the last cars were made in '72
But Hey ! This is an auction we're talkin' about.

I like it, Big Len!

My guess = $40,250

But if the rich boys are really drunk and ignorant, could top $50K just on the marketing. I can just see the bidders package and hear the auctioneer....

Makes you wonder how many bidders are even aware of these conversions. A smart buyer will crawl all around the car in the holding area and do a thorough visual. Maybe even view all of those receipts. The phone bidder stands the best chance of over paying for this non factory 9146.
I think that the auction company must present this conversion as a "914 6 Tribute" car, or there might be after sale legal problems.
I'd pay no more than $23,500 (inc. Commission) this conversion. Best of luck to the new owner !

They changed it. They took the stock photo down.

They also added an engine picture.

Imho, I think that the add is absolutely misleading.

The car has nothing to do with a real 914-6 (which is a very specific description of a car model).

Yes, they stated non orginal; however a real 914-6 with after market rims and a 3L engine is also non original.

I think it will sell for $45k, because of the "challenging" description.

Is this like Price Is Right? If so, I'll top Hank914 and go with $40,250.01.

Correct it has nothing to do with a real -6 however it's better in almost every way than a real -6. Quality conversions are so much nicer that real -6's in IMHO. With only a little over 3K real -6's produced they will always command an originality premium.
