Can the speedo cable connection be undone from the speedo WITHOUT removing the cluster ? I don't have small hands.

I want to test a speedo for a short drive.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Sure. Assume the position. The 914 wiring position.

Lay under the dash and reach up. I've done it a number of times.

Or grab the gauge by the bezel and pull it out. If the gasket is old enough, you can slip them out enough to unscrew the speedo cable.

If you can't get the speedo out first, try the tach. Then you will have more room to push out the speedo. Having Man Hands can be a problem on these cars!
