Can the speedo cable connection be undone from the speedo WITHOUT removing the cluster ? I don't have small hands.
I want to test a speedo for a short drive.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) |

Sure. Assume the position. The 914 wiring position.
Lay under the dash and reach up. I've done it a number of times. |

Or grab the gauge by the bezel and pull it out. If the gasket is old enough, you can slip them out enough to unscrew the speedo cable.

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) If you can't get the speedo out first, try the tach. Then you will have more room to push out the speedo. Having Man Hands can be a problem on these cars! |
