Just what the title says, got my COA today on my '70 914-6 and under optional equipment it lists "Option Package C13" does anyone know what this is? I did a search on here and the subject had been discussed before but no definitive answer has been posted.

One research said it was:

Option C13 Finland group option.headlight washer,rear defroster,mudflap.

Can't be sure of the authenticity.

Hey, it was on the internet so it has to be real!

I saw that too! They are referring to the Country Codes that Porsche used C13 was for Finland, it has nothing to do with the option code.

COA's of late have been known to provide great amounts of laughable information.

Corrosion (Factor 13)
Kinda like the amps for Spinal Tap go up to 11 sort of thing. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)
Not as rare as you would think. Usually it was a "free" option (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)
Come to think of it, most of these gems still have that option installed. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif)

Ok, got a response on another site that says Option Package C13 was the predecessor to the "Appearance Group" option in later years. Makes sense since my '70 914-6 came with Chrome Bumpers, Fog Lights, Dual-Tone Horn, Targa Bar Vinyl Trim, Leather Wrap Steering wheel and Tinted Glass.

I'm thinking the C13 package was fog lights, leather wrapped steering wheel and tinted windows as you're correct on those standard 6 features.

Bingo you are right. Went back and looked at my COA and Under Optional equipment first line reads:
"Option Package C13" Then underneath it lists:
Leather Steering Wheel
Fog Lights
Tinted side Glass

So the above post listing std. equipment on 914-6 as chrome bumpers, vinyl on Targa bar, dual-tone horn makes sense.
So Option Package C13 is the 3 items listed above.

Hmm, That seems to make sense. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

All Cxx codes are Country of destination equipment codes.
C13, according to the list above is Finland. This is obviously incorrect since so many US bound cars have this code. Recently I was asking my source for CoA information about that and I was given this:
Attached Image
which indicates CAlifornia and New York are the destination states. I have heard something about states other than California that had special requirements, but not this early that I recall. However, given the evidence, I think we may now have the answer to the C13 puzzle.

The initial level of trim is defined by the model #'s 914xxx and 473xx4.
So the appearance group or performance group bundles with their included options are somewhat concealed within the model code, and this is often not specified on a CoA to the detriment of accurate and complete information.

Not trying to hijack this thread but I wasn't interested in Porsche's COA with a pretty crest and all the questions that usually come with a COA. However, I was interested in Kardex info for my 73' 914/4.

@davep did some awesome research for me on my car. The fee was reasonable and I'm happier than a bird with a french fry that I didn't have to pay a dime to Porsche. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/piratenanner.gif)

Glad Dave was able to come up with the C13 explanation that Porsche most certainly should have provided. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/first.gif)
