I am updating the sound in the orange 75. The factory speakers had crumbled. I pulled them out and went in search of some replacements. We all know that the speakers on the 914 were an odd duck mounting size. You have to also keep in mind that the speaker has to be low profile to clear the side wall. I found a set of Pyle coaxial speakers (4x6) that fit the objective. Of course, the speakers and mounts were not going to be plug and play but I found a way to make for a nice factory look fit.

I took the speakers apart and checked the mounting out. Mounts with grill would fit in the stock location mount with a little modification. I ground off about a 1/4" of plastic on each end of the mount to fit inside the speaker housing. Marked the mounts for notching and got out the files. Used a V file to start notch and then a round file for the mounting slot. Put the speakers back together and mounted them in the factory holes. I need longer screws. so I used the front turn signal lens screws, they were just the right length. I broke the speaker mounting clips in half and used it to secure the speaker mount to the factory grill.
