My MSD ignition is dead. It worked great 2 years ago when I swapped the 3.0L engine to carbs and replaced the Bosch ignition. Less than 1 hour of runtime - now 2 years later of sitting in storage it's dead. I did accidently spark the main battery power cable once or twice - perhaps that did it in. I was ready to start the engine in the 914 for the first time this week! I even expedited a new coil to get it before the weekend.

So now I have to send it off and wait 2-3 weeks for it to be fixed. Grrr. What's really annoying is that I wanted to test the engine before I connect everything else - just in case I need to drop the engine and fix/change something.

Grrrr.

Grrrr.

Your playing my song, now. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/av-943.gif) (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif) Just yesterday I was trying to remember how many times I had my engine in and out, fitting this and that. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

It's a never ending battle. Always frustrating to get put off a couple weeks. I'd just get everything bolted together & install. A this point you should be pretty good at dropping it if you need to later (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) . Right (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

IT STARTED ON THE SECOND CRANK! A very special thanks to a certain member shipping and letting me borrow his MSD unit while mine is off at MSD getting repaired.

Flat-six engine/car purchased 4 years ago. Pulled from donor car 2 years ago. 4 cyl engine pulled 5 months ago. 6 cyl installed 2 months ago. Car started on just the second crank...TODAY!

Definitely an awesome feeling - especially after so much hard work goes into it. Still have plenty to do before it's driveable and a couple issues to work out but I'm definitely hoping to drive it for the fall season in Texas!
