Ha, made ya look! I say nearly because it still has paint (which I guess would be equivalent to lingerie), rust holes (tattoos?), and jackstands (high heels). (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)
I have taken off pretty much everything, but I have a few questions... What have I probably forgotten to take off? (I did find and remove the plugs for the ski rack mounts) Is there any way to remove the windshiled trim clips without destroying them? Is there any way to save the sticker on the door jamb? There appear to be caps on the top sides of the holes where thr trailing arm mounts. Should I remove those? Here's pic 1: Attached image(s) |

I saved my door jamb tag and reattached it after painting. I think I warmed it up with a head gun and carefully slipped a razor blade under it. You could probably remove and reuse the windshield trim clips, but I don't think they are that expensive so new would be better. I kept my original clips on but it was a pain stripping paint around them.

There used to be 6 plugs (3) on each side under the roll bar above the engine lid.
Yes, remove the 6 plugs covering the tops of the trailing arm bolts. I like to soak those with penetrating oil before removal. When you are done painting, put the plugs back as they keep crap out of the holes. (Or you could do what I did and through bolt the trailing arm bolts and put nuts on top.) |

I think that is what I am going to do also. One of my caps is missing anyway and I think one of the bolts is stripped. |

I'm just checking... Is it a bad sign that when I saw the subject I actually pictured a bare-metal 914? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/unsure.gif)

Wow that's a bold move! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) Any chance you could post a few pics of the areain the trunk just on the other side of the steering wheel? I'm interested in what penetrations there are through the body under the air vent stuff.

Get new windshield trim clips, otherwise you'll watch helplessly as it flies off when you're cruising down the freeway. They are a one time use item. You can actually order new door jamb stickers from the dealer. There are subtle differences with the replacements, but IMHO they're good enough for everyone but the CWs. That's what I plan for my Aubergine car.

Are they reasonably priced? My sticker is kind of weathered and probably not worth saving, now that I think about it. |

Ok I'll ask it, why did you choose blastin as opposed to chem strip? Is it cheaper? Better? I'm still on the fence on what I'm gonna do when it comes time.
