So.... it looks like no one stepped up to the plate after Jeff Bowlsby. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)
Is there an interest in the bay area to keep this thing going? If we get together this saturday, we can celebrate our little cars, as well as Britain Smith and Marty Yeoman's birthdays! Britain will be exactly half as young as Marty! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) Anyway, holla back and lets see if there's enough of an interest to get some people together this saturday. Jen |

Why don't we just do IHOP in the standard place at the standard time... If everyone just keeps going as if nothing ever happened, we don't even need an organizer.

That's what I figured as well. I don't mind posting a reminder for everyone the week prior, and we can get a head count going. But as long as we're just meeting for breakfast, it can be pretty impromptu.

People are more apt to show if they see others going. Sort of a junior high I'll-go-if-you-go type thing. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)
I'll be there to partake in swedish pancakes! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/chowtime.gif) And nasty coffee (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/coffee.gif) Jen |

I wish we could find a place more north than San Jose. It's a long haul for some of us. Last year we were supposed to rotate the breakfast around and we did a little (HPH breakfast & Pleaseanton breakfast) but the north bay breakfast got rescheduled back to San Jose.

i think the coffee is better than the pancakes! not compared to each other, but rather compared to other coffee and pancakes. like elsewhere. not related. if you know what i mean. there's nothing swedish about their pancakes. and i *mean* nothing. altought the sausages *do* smell like a pig ... If'n you want, you can organize one for the north bay, since we don't have an official organizer anymore. Viva la revolution!!! PS: I'm in.
I would be fine with going to another location, however that means researching the location, warning them there will be x number of people, etc. More work than it sounds like initially. I would be fine with somewhere up north a bit but I think we should pick a central location rather than rotate. If we rotate I won't ever remember where I am supposed to drive every month. It also gives people an excuse not to go to every other event because the drive is longer that month. I'd rather drive 50 miles every time instead of 10 miles one month and 100 the next. |

i'm out -- have a major deadline on tuesday and i'll be working non-stop through the weekend.
i shouldn't even be posting this, but i'm procrastinating just a little... p.s. there's also the IHOP in redwood city off the 101, but not as much room as the SJ location. |

I was kicking around the idea of proposing a location more up the peninsula, but there aren't that many sit-down breakfast places with adequate parking. Almost by definition, good breakfast places are packed on Sat. mornings.
I do know of some coffee/bagel places mid-peninsula (there's a Starbucks/Noah's/Jamba combo very near 92 and 101). Lots of parking close by (biz hotel that doesn't get a lot of weekend traffic). The fact that this is about a mile from my house has NO bearing on suggesting this, of course. As for rotation, remembering where is easy as long as the reminder goes out. Having X people wimp out because it's too far that month is better than having them never show at all because its too far EVERY month. I'd certainly think at least one Peninsula/South Bay location and one East Bay location would be a good idea. |

I found a cool spot in old-town Campbell. Its a little hard to find but, I think it would make a good meeting spot. Meet on Sundays and the Farmers Market is happining. Oh and the bar opens up at 11am for those wanting to get the liquid lunch. I scanned a menu. Lets see if it works.

now sorry, I live in Massachusetts, but I found a great place on the ocean outside of SF.
If you take the really cool road to La Honda ( A small town on the way to the ocean very near Redwood city) There is a famous golf course out there, right next door is a great out of the way place to eat, and the roads are fantastic teener roads ( I beat a rental car up and down with all the bikers one sunday) Rich |

That's Alice's, and the road was Skyline Blvd (aka 35). Nice spot, but very, very crowded on the weekends, with a large police presence, mostly due to said bikers regularly offing themselves up there (and I say this as a 15 year biker with lots of track time). 35 is fairly pleasant during the week, if it's not really foggy.
The place was named after the actual Alice's Restaurant of song and movie fame, which was, of course, in Massachusetts (Stockbridge). (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif) As for other Peninsula breakfast places, my wife reminded me that Stack's in Redwood City has a big parking lot, and is next to a Walgreen's with an even larger lot. This is a pretty good breakfast place. |
