Started tearing down my 2.7 for a rebuild, the cylinders are a combination of mahle and KS. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/confused24.gif) they're also Alusil and not in very good shape.
So, I'm looking for a GOOD used set, with nickasil cylinders and matched CIS pistons, or a reasonably priced new set. 2.7 with CIS. Anyone got some laying around? Thanks, Jeff |

Thanks for the replies, Edited the first post, looking for a complete set with nickasil cylinders and matching CIS pistons.
My understanding is the alusil cylinders can't be reused, or honed. Thanks, Jeff |

I had a 928 block bored out from 4.7 to 5.0. The block is solid alusil. The trick is the pistons have to be made to run in alusil bores or they will gall the cylinders. Pistons for alusil bored have a special iron coating as I understand. (or some kind of surface treatment) My only option was 32 valve 928 pistons notched for 16 valve heads. Now the 911 may have piston options the 928 guys don't have due to popularity.

The alusil cylinders can be nikasil treated and honed for "normal" pistons.
Ask Len Hoffman. |
