Steve Stromberg come over today to help me adjust my shifter and we found a bushing that needed to be replaced. So I go online and the least amount I found one was at Pelican for $47 and some change. Plus shipping and a couple days to get it from 30 miles away. He suggests I call Mesa Performance over here about 10 minutes away. I get them on the phone and they guy tells me he has the whole kit for $39.00. I buzz over and pick it up and I am back in 15 minutes with the parts I need. I didnt pay for shipping and I didnt have to wait. You just never know till you actually shop your local resources. The kit is a Weltmeister by the way. Heres a picture of the complete kit. It even came with the little screws that are impossible to find.

Did you solve the front end clearance problem yet? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sawzall-smiley.gif)

Yup, I just have a few small things to do and its ready to go. By little things I mean, put the new rear caliper on I got from Slits, bleed the brakes out and put the shifter bushing in and then of course, hook up the lights, put in all the fuses that Jared took out one night to fix his car. It's drivable but I am not going to push it too hard till I replace the passenger side strut. Its not capable of being tight like its supposed to be. I am hoping to get one in the next few days or so. After all, my Birthday is next Monday. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

This reminds me of the front wheel bearings. Going strictly from memory (a qualifier for old guys like me!), they are, I belive, the same as for a Ford Aerostar van. I just can't recall if they're for a 914-4, or a 914-6. Available anywhere at a good price. Give me a day or two and I can look up the numbers, if you guys are interested. There was another occasion where a friend asked me to check on part, rear bearing this time, and bingo; NAPA, in stock!

It even came with the little screws that are impossible to find.

if those are the *good* set-screws, they'll have that little extra material in the grooves that will deform and hold them tight (that's why they are ONE TIME use only!) ...
if they don't have that, make sure you use some loctite on them, otherwise, they will unscrew themselfs ...

ask me how i know ...

Hi Scott,
I've bought many parts for both cars at Mesa Performance. Many times I will call them first. If they don't have it they sometimes get it for me the next day.
Cheers, Elliot

I also meant to say that I used the same kit on my car and the cone screws came loose anyway. Use loctite on them as well.
Cheers, Elliot

I can vouch for having a local shop. Theres a local VW shop that has engine stuff for my T4 and 912. Pelican is 45 minutes away and does willcall, and Performance Products is about 30 minutes away and is open on saturday! They arent the same as a walk in shop, but they've all bailed me out a few times.
