For AX, another consideration is what class you want to run in. Local PCA rules in my area state that you need a DOT approved tire with a wear rating of 100 or higher to stay in stock class. R-compound tires or slicks put you in a higher class.

I just picked up the G-Force for Manfred....problem with REALLY sticky tires and driving them on the road to the track is that you get a LOT of punctures...ask me how I know....

Just out of curiosity, did you get those 16x7's off ebay recently? The reason I ask is because there was a set that I really wanted located in the bay area, but I missed.

In order to be DOT legal (2 years ago when I checked)
tires have to have a minimum treadwear rating of 50 and 3/32" tread depth, maybe 5/32" caint remember.
Anywho, that is zackly what victoracers come with. Barely legal.
Hoosiers are very good, but my favorite is the victoracer.
don't run em in rain tho, they don't like that.

I gots some W/T for sale:

A3SO4 Hoosiers......225 X45 X 15, bout half gone on 7 X 15 Cookies, 4 ea. $450. ....even got a pic.
Marv:
With a 3.2L, you need tiars like these in the worst way...
but with stock fenders, there's no way these will fit....unless you're into the jackem'up 4X4 look. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)

No flare necessary. Just trim the inside lip of the fender and a couple of passes with a base ball bat and you can cram some 225-50-15's under there.

Just to clear this up, the Falken's, which are great, have a claimed treadwear of 200 are no where near the stick of my Yokohama A032's.

The Yok's are amazing and are extremly responsive.
Pricey at over $800 for a set. Treadwear of 60.

The Hoosiers are likely the best for a/x, but you'll destroy them immediately on the road. ( 60 minute life ) at over $800 again. No treadwear rating. Race only yet DOT's (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

So that being said, go Falken or get a second set of rims for a/x stickies to be competitive.

I drove my A3SO4s around town, to the track & those tires have about 150 AX passes on em'.....prolly 500-800 miles on em' total.....and they're prolly half gone.

Don't believe all things you read about them. 2 years ago, I ran R3SO3s. 200 passes, 150 minutes of track time, 300-400 of street driving (WAG). Still have em' and they are a touch better than the SO4s.

With the suspension settings they like, they hold up VERY well
on a 914. Heavier cars with the wrong settings eat them up.

Cool (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/cool.gif) I've got a set of those...

I'll switch between the Yok's and Hoosiers for a/x.
Only Yok's for the wet.

Yes, Lots of us are running them. They stick pretty good , I still wouldn't run them on the street. I did run to town and back once just to scuff the new off them.
good price I took them to the Airforce base hobby shop and mounted balanced for 10 bucks.

Stiff side wall took 2 people to get them suckers on the rim. I haven'y found cheaper than tire rack. Ordered Monday were at my house Tuesday UPS.
