A later model . 72-73? Great ride but they are SMALL. My son had one a couple years ago. Went UNDER a deer!!! At about 50. The front of the bonnet was smashed but nothin else. The 6 and the kid survived ,not the deer. As near as I can figure the 6 took the legs out from under the deer , it hit the hood ,flew up in the air and the car went under. Found the deer alongside the road. The 6 was still able to move under it's own power but it didn;t do it's looks any good.
The kid went off to school and I eventually found another bonnet. I ended up selling it cause I couldn't drive it for more than about 20 minutes without my leg aching. Messed up my knee in a motorcycle crash and I need to strech it out driving. No can do in a 6 and I'm only 5'10" Tiny cars--but fun!!

The Spitfire and GT6 were designed by Micholetti. He did early Ferraris [I think the 275 GTB was one of his]. Odd isn't it, an Italian designer doing a British car (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

Yep...that's why I swiched to the teener. The GT6 is best left to smaller types (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

I'm 6'1 and after I put in Miata seats it was all over (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wacko.gif)

boy that is just beautiful...

I always wanted a gt-6.

I test drove one in hopes of building it up for vintage racing (it was a 67)..
but then my vintage group decided to let teeners in and I backed out..

first independant?
what about the e-types and the lotus elans?
62 or 63 I think?

It is very pretty, I love the color... never seen one like that before.

I like yellow on it better than a teener.. I like the way the nice panel lines show up.

i saw a car in traffic the other day that kinda looked like a real square 914 and it said Bertone on the b pillar, what would that be? I think it would be this car..a fiat Kinda looks like they tried to copy but did a bad job.

That is the X/19
I had one of those puppys. They were really neat to drive. Mid engine 1290cc, but water cooled. They stuck to the road like glue. The only problem with them, they had a tendency to overheat. I ripped out the 1290 and replaced it with a 1500 cc new Strata engine and the damn thing flew.

Micholetti also styled the TR-4, which I think is a very nice looking car. Of course, following the TR-2 and TR-3, anything would look good! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

That is a very nice GT-6. I always liked those. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif)

Looking at it reminds me of how busy the old British sportscar designs were. So many trim pieces and panel lines. They are cool today, though.

Peter, that GT6 is gorgeous! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wub.gif) i have always loved those and spitfires; always wanted a spitfire, either in green or painted like the airplane! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)

back in 1986 i was a passenger in a GT6 when a deer jumped up from the low right hand bank and came through the windscreen. i still feel sad when i remember the caved roofline of that car, and the poor deer that didn't know what hit her. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

Nice looking GT6 - Reminds me of my spitfire. I miss the lound long stroke engine by my feet and the low road position, but the handling was abysmal.

Some guy put an all aluminium V8 in one and figured out that the v8 was lighter than the stock engine and improved the handling !!

Fiid.
