I know what the "right" thing to do is but I felt like posting this anyways because I hate getting the wrong stuff. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/mad.gif)

In a parts order I got from a reputable supplier one of the boxes seemed rather large for what is was supposed to be which was a set of ignition wires for my 2L. Open up the box and whoa there are a lot of wires in there and they certainly don't look like wires that would go on my little type IV.

Well it turns out that they are for a 911 Carrera 2/4 (89-94) and about $550 difference in price.

Do you think the parts house will do me right if I bring it to their attention, or will it just be another "sorry we messed up your order, send them back and we will send you the correct ones" of course they will prolly want me to pay shipping as well.

Any body need these, I'll make ya a sceamin deal. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif)

Yeah, if it was your product, what would you want done?

Someone could lose their job over something like that too.

Send them back.

If they have any standards, they'll give you a discount on your next order for the honesty.

I think the right thing to do is contact them and let them know what you received, and remind them of what you ordered. If they're a reputable retailer, they should send you the right parts ASAP, and send you a return postage box/label for the items that were erroneously shipped to you.

This happened to me not too long ago with some rear license lights I bought. The seller was very much willing to eat the shipping on the returned items and provided the label to ship them back at his expense.

THAT, my friends, is CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!

How many reputable suppliers are there out there? If you respect these people, do what you can to help them out.

Ask not what your porsche parts supplier can do for you, ask what you can do for your porsche parts supplier!

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/dry.gif) I always give a chance to correct, but after they screw up the same part three different times, and waste a month of my time shipping parts back and forth to GEORGIA and still get it wrong. I keep the steering wheel adapter and move on. I win 'cause of YOUR ineptness. Name withheld for protection of the inept! No it's not Jake. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/w00t.gif)

They are Beru dual dist wires. There is a pile of them that's why I was surprised when I saw the box.

Yes of course I will send them back. Like the time a couple of years ago when I checked my checking account balance and it was about $13000 to much. I waited 2 weeks to see if they would correct the problem but the money just stayed there. I'm sure they would have figured it out eventually. But I had to tell them I didn't want the money.

Of course this is on a little different scale

I am going to ask for free overnight shipping on the replacement wires and some other stuff I need, if they scoff at this or give me a hard time at all they will definitely lose a customer. Seem reasonable?

quite. they made a mistake, no big deal there, but the onerous is definitely upon them to make it right. that they should eat shipping on everything seems appropriate.

well i once ordered a set of 320 i brake pads got the right box with the wrong pads, i got 914 pads that were nla. well i called the place i ordered from (no names... look i see a birdy ) they must have run to the shipper, i called at 730 pm est, the next day when i got home ( 5 pm ) there was a box with a prepaid return label and the right pads. thats how it should work, but in my opinion if it is a shop in the south east keep em, order the right parts. its about time that somebody got over on them. if it was any other dealer i would send em back, and i would not send till they sent me the correct parts, with them paying shipping

I'd make things right...someones job on the other end could be hanging on the line after an expensive mistake like that (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)
