For anyone who would happen to have a Boxster shifter, would there be some pictures that could be shared as to the layout/ideas on how the console was set up in the cab?

You don't need the console. I used the shifter and made a console with a wire frame and fiberglass mat.

It has 4 mounting holes so you can bolt it down.

I made the linkage on the tranny side. Mine was the Audi version and did not come with the Boxster setup.

Finished cover. I cut the Boxster shifter handle down and added a Mustang shifter handle. This allows a screw on knob. The stock Boxster knob sucks.

Thanks Mike.

I can't tell in the 3rd picture, but is there room for the 3rd seat cushion in behind the console, once it is ultimately put in place?

You could build it that way. The cables are in the way. Mine dive into the tunnel before the access panel. I could slide the entire thing forward but i fit best where it is.

You could build a better fitting console than trying to fit the Boxster unit.

I forgot about those cables going to be in the road.
How's come the cables were not routed through the access hole instead?

Too sharp of a bend to get out the hole in the firewall.

if you're looking for a shifter for a cable shift conversion - check out the lotus elise / exige shifter

http://www.autobahnpower.com/images/Blog/L...fter1%20abp.jpg

the '06 onwards is the on pictured above - the '05 and below is the same function, just a little more flex in the cage.

I have the shifter, and cables, just looking for ideas on how to make some sort of housing for the shifter, if I don't use the original console that it would have come with, to make it look decent.

You can run the cables thru the rear access. You can even modify the access cover so that it can be used as well.

Toyota MR2 also uses cable shift and can be had for a bit less $$ than either of those. I would imagine that, in its 3rd generation, its operation is similar to that of the Lotus (since they shift the same gear box).

Partworks has a Boxster tranny, Boxster shifter and Boxster cables.

I believe he is wanting info on finish mounting and console aesthetics.

I don't think this is a debate on which shifter to use. What he has is plug and play.

There is some good stuff on youtube. 1/4" fiberboard, sintra, or fiberglass is the most common.
