Ive looked at a few posts and tried searching for it nut cant seem to find it.

This pic is not mine or from my car, but where on this should i be looking ?

Looked there, as well just to the left of the distributor. There is a pad that reads side to side on the engine but no number.

A 1.7 would be where the red circle indicates, a 2.0 or 1.8 /bus motor will have it in front of/below the oil fill tower.

I agree. I have a 1.7L and my engine number was where the red circle indicates. I couldn't see it til I wire brushed the grime/soldering away.
