It may have been the 2004. Count the 914s in the track picture. Joe Sharp had some bar-b-Ques that attracted over 50 914s. That was over the whole day....

We should easily be able to get 50 to San Simeon. Print Mike's poster and get them into the hands of 914 owners; we could end up with 75-100 cars.

Maybe we can beat that this year.

51 cars in the 2004 photo at Mazda. IIRC there were over 80 at one time that weekend.

I hosted the 2004 WCC, there were 74 attendees most with 914s, but not all 914s made it to Laguna for the victory lap and photo.

It would be nice to get that group back for a ten year reunion.

I went home with lotsa goodies from that one. It was the last teener trip I did before I had to address the rust issues.
The soap looks surprisingly similar to the car currently with the primer showing through the black paint (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Yeah, one of the disorganizers is a 356 registry member. It will not be a surprise, sorry guys. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

not to get off track with the 356 stuff, but . . .

the 356 north meets south (356 club not registry) often falls on the same weekend as r gruppe treffen - many years ago, we shared a lunch event with the 356 folks - 356's were parked in one section, and early 911's in another -

i was walking around checking out the cars and i got back to the r gruppe section, where i witnessed 3 middle aged PCA type ladies looking around - they looked like they just smelled a dead animal in the r gruppe section - one exclaimed, "let's go back to where the nice porsches are!" - that really cracked me up - (IMG:style_emoticons/default/lol-2.gif)

all in all, these 356 folks are very nice and welcoming, but 356's are their thing - i get it, as i'm also a 356 registry member, but i have a 356 outlaw, which had much more shock value a few years ago - psyched for the ramble in my 914!

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) 120 days to WCR 2015 (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) if you are on the line on this, you can make a cancellable reservation at the host motel. If you haven't been to San Simeon before, this is a family friendly locale with great scenery, places to go, and restful.
