Search is not my friend. Has there been a long drawn out thread about SPI epoxy primer? If so please point me to it. I don't want to stir the pot, just looking for information. I have found a lot about using it on their forum, but it is a little cult like over there. Just hoping to get a range of opinions.

From personal experience. I do not like " off brand epoxies " I have had issues with them in the past. Do yourself a favor and spend a couple more bucks for a name brand setup. PPG's SHOPLINE is about 90.00 / gallon and I use it all the time. Put it on bare metal, give it 30 minutes to start setting up and you can put spray poly right on it and start sanding the next day. I've used cheapo ones customers supplied and had issues with it setting up. Some have had to sit for as much as a week before they would setup to be able to be worked on top of. It's all about the chemicals in the paint, and cheap pain uses cheap chemicals and they don't work as well.
You also need to know if the epoxy you are using is an etching epoxy or not. If it has etching properties DO NOT put it over OSHO or any kind of etch primer. Non etching ones ( like the SHOPLINE ) I put over OSHO'd floor pans and it makes a damn near bulletproof finish IMHO, don't waste your money on Eastwood or POR-15 either. You can get better product for as much or less http://www.bapspaint.com/docs/psheets/PPG/...pline/JP370.pdf Wanna go for the gusto, I've used PPG's DP epoxies. they're the cats ass, but you'll pay for it.
