Looking for anybody who has the "RS" style 914 door panels
and if you use the stock door pieces like the pocket on the left and the fake pocket on the right. I plan on using those stock parts and need to know if the panel will look stupid or not. If no good, I will be recovering stock-look. Thanks in advance (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/clap.gif) |

adding the door pockets kinda defeats the RS look and theme....it's no longer an RS door panel with the stock door pulls........

An RS door panel with stock pulls and hardware would be a 1970 door. (smooth vinyl).
Right? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) |

Eric: no, the ones meant to look like 911 rs have diagonal pleats; stock is plain.
Mike: understood. cost is equal. to those who know, it may seem dumb. But to the average guy off the street would it be less boring, or ugly. Curtis: got it covered, so to speak. |

Heya mskala
I made my own set - just like what you're talking about, and have a few pics as well - I'm trying to do a search for my post but haven't found it yet. If you'd like, pm me and I'll send you them from my other email acct. I plan on doing a tech-article on how to do it yourself, but I'm in the procwess of changing jobs and haven't gotten to it just yet..... Super cheap, especially if your donor backs are nice - even if they've been warped from moisture they can still be repaired. Lemme know! |

I think the confusion here is someone at somepoint was selling 914 "RS" door panels which had the diagonal pleats. but the real 911 RS door panels are actually plain with no detailing or arm rests, much like the 914 GT ones.

Hey Mueller you rock, did you save the thread? I couldnt' find it, I'm a dope (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/laugh.gif) We must have been typing at the same time - thanks for bailing me out It's my first set, sorta trial and error. I figured it's better to test ideas on my stuff first rather than mess up somebody else's. Cheers |

RS and RSR door panels don't have pleats. I have them in my RS clone (and I've researched the piss out of them). Simple flat vinyl, leather strap and a plastic Fiat 600 handle. The one's in the link Mike posted are similar to late 70's 911 panels. |

The leather strap attaches to the latch mechanism where the rod goes and you simply pull the strap or push down on it as you pull yourself up and out of the car. |

I is ignorant (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
But just to be clear I'm trying to decide on the 'pleats' or the stock (grain vinyl from '70) look with all the stock parts. Got right side pic already from the earlier thread posted; looks pretty good IMO. Although I wouldn't make it thick anyway. Thanks all |

Hey Daniel how is it going? I will try to get some pics up as soon as possible! I wont be able to do it until I produce this particular style of door panel (RS /GT STYLE). I will keep you posted Daniel because I want to produce a set of these for my SIX. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) |
