Our Homeowners' association must hire from Stanford Security Rejects, Inc.
I want to paint my house. Call H/O assn (mistake 1) and they inform me I must submit a color sample and $125 to handle the cost of review. I ask, even for the same color? Yes! Go paint store with chip from house. They match it. Buy one gallon, paint piece of cardboard (8.5x11 as required) and submit it with the check. Get letter from them. 'Your color as been rejected since is does not fit the palette.' I call them and ask, 'OK, where do I get this palette?' 'There isn't one.' 'How do I know what color is OK?' 'Send us sample and we will let you know.' So come on down. You can park your car in front of my house and help me paint. When the Paint Police come by, I'll use the Patti Hurst defense.... 'A crazed NorCal liberal held me at gunpoint and forced me to use this color.' |

Mistake # 2...When in the testing stage, quarts are your friend! I will never understand how these associations come up with their crazy guidelines. |

LMFAO!!!
bravo (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smilie_pokal.gif) on finding what must be the most senseless HOA ever organized. i like Dave's idea. so the latest with my abandoned car is...... no news. nothing. i've called, emailed, went to see them in person, every one passes the buck. meanwhile i've got some renegade rent-a-pig running around with a true hardon for towing my car, and the apparent legal authority to do so. my legally registered, legally insured, valid-parking-permit-equipped-car, that is. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif) wtf. |

Funny....when I was at Howie's house last month I asked what his Association was like...... I prolly jinxed him. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ohmy.gif)
I live NEXT to an Association and I have been getting grief from them for 10 years. I don't belong, don't wanna belong, but they think because they are 18 members strong they can push me around.....been going rounds with them and I'm ahead on the judge's cards 8-2..... It only takes ONE Nazi on the Association's Board to cause you grief. |

I bought a new home in an area that was under the control of a HOA. Moved the fence 6 feet towards the street (Still 6 feet from the front of the house) and got cards and letters for a month. Finally went to one of there satanic sacrifice rituals and told them to bite me. Never heard from them since.

sound like a good way to make $125. WE WOULD HAVE PROBLEMS if I paid and the present color (on my house) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/ar15.gif) was not aproved.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif) So sorry to hear your grief--I really lucked out--knocking on veneer right now, here in SoFl H/O is all the rage--cept where I live. Nope, none, no siree H/O can go (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/flipa.gif) themselves--Everybody around me for about 5 blocks works on thier cars, build things in the yards, and also mow thier own grass. I have a few times now been outside in my yard, at 8 pm with lights on my project and using a angle grinder or a sawzall with all the bravado of someone that just don't care---know what? Not a single complaint!!!!! (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smash.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sawzall-smiley.gif) (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif)
Course, It COULD have something to do with me being a federal law officer and 2/3 of the homeowners around here smoke pot--- But it is just a theory........ (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smoke.gif) hehe (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/aktion035.gif) Do your worst to them nazi's--hell, if it is like most H/O ass. it will be years before you go to court, if it ever even comes to that--- On another note--my buddie who lives in Hollywood, next to the beach, went to work one day and came home to find a code enforcement ticket ( $50.00 ) on his door--the altercation??? One sprig of weed had grown 4 inches above the grass while he was at work!!!! True story---- |

So it cost $125 to compare a sheet of cardboard to, uh, NOTHING. How would that play out in small claims court?

my mother was the pres of a hoa, they had simple guide lines sheds must be same color and surface treatment as house, fences had to be one of ten designs, and you did have to get a permit for the above and for painting but it was free.
now there was a neighbor who put a permit in for a planeter across the front of his house, well he built it across and next to his house. then he asked for a permit for a flag pole, they said no till he asked for a permit to build the planter next to his house. well he put in the permit for the planter and it got approved. next the flag pole was to be a 15 pole, which he got approved for, but he put in a 25 footer, then he asked for a permit for a fence, which got disapproved, can you guess why, the guy always did more than what he asked for, but it always got approved after wards. well six months later he tried to get a pool, which got approved, when they tried to did up his yard, the hole flooded, so he tried to put in an above ground pool. well what do you know above ground pools are a no no, he did it anyway. well the hoa sent letters, had the inspectors for the county turn it down, but he did it any way. then he learned his lesson. a year later after the pool was done with out county permits and stuff. the hoa got a court order and removed the pool, and even landscaped the yard where the pool was, now he has a 10000 lean on his house to pay for the removeal of the pool and the other work. my mother got out of the resinged from the hoa when the other members pushed this to that point. hoa may suck but thier are reasons, not ones i understand but they have thier reasons |

Thanks, all, for your support. It's just a bit of silliness that occurs when a really little person has nothing better to do. I like having a HOA, keeps the riff raff out (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
Anyway, the house is coming out great; I accidently started painting before I received their declination letter. Oopsie (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/beerchug.gif) |
