Come on, guys. Someone take Tom's roller for $5K. Put in a 6 cylinder, another type 4 engine, or convert to Suby or LS V8!
I need his '76 California correct emissions engine for my '76 California based 914 below. Send me a PM to co-ordinate a purchase from Tom that gets you the chassis and me the engine. Thanks, Attached image(s) |

Thanks for the kind words you guys - the car is awesome!!
re: weight 'post diet' - The CF front hood is super light, easily a savings of some 30lbs over the stock hood, ditto the rear deck. Not so much savings in the GT engine cover, but some. The sheet metal is gone behind the glass flares, but I was surprised that it did not total up to that much - maybe 40lbs total? Front and rear bumpers are significant weight savings - those stock bumpers are really heavy!! And then there is all the little stuff that adds up pretty fast: front hood springs, rear engine torsion springs, rear deck torsion springs, sound padding under the carpets, sound padding engine bay, etc etc etc. The 10-spoke wheels are the lightest made by Porsche.... At one point I was guessing she was 300lbs lighter all in? Might be a little bit aggressive, but that is the relevant range I think. Showing the car on TUES afternoon to a local guy....have some interest from my CL LA post....and the usual set of bottom feeders are circling as well.....I'd sure like to get this gone this week!!! td |

And this is what should be dropped into my chassis - from a Pelican advert that posted this morning:
Just removed from a record setting 67S. Mag 2.7 with 2.7 RS pistons and cylinders, S cams, Weber 40s, ARP rod bolts, George's headers with megaphones, and aluminum flywheel, No leaks or smoke. Runs really well. I removed it to be replaced with a proper 2.0 aluminum engine for vintage. This is truly a plug in and go. The engine was used in Legendary Mike Hammond's 67S. This engine was used for time trials and last raced in September. Last record was set last April. It would be great for the track or the street. Price is $13,500 for this complete good running 200+ hp engine. Has it sold yet. I'll update this post when it is sold - still available at this point - I drove an hour each way yesterday to show the car to a potential buyer and am tempted to take her off the market and just enjoy another AX season with it!! I've worked for 3+ years to get to this point - and she is driving so sweetly!! No rattles, no shimmy, no 'looseness', just pure, tight, taut, and solid! <<AND THE HEATER WORKS, I *LOVE* THE HEATER!!>> (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif) td |

Anyone interested in the chassis only?
If so, PM me and we might work something out as a team purchase. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif) ..... the car is VERY cool. I saw it in person. I just have a car too similar. But I am interested in the drivetrain. |

and bumperoo back to the top -
2-24-15 UPDATE - My cash buyer in PDX has dropped out for personal reasons not related to the car. Here's some weight data - front 916 bumper 12lbs, rear deck lid with ducktail 18lbs.....compare that to the massively heavy chrome bumpers and steel deck lid!! Doing some cosmetical upgrading now - will post new pix when back together....price will be adjusted UP when completed. td |
