I have a six clyinder 2 liter that has been bored out to a 2.2. I want to sell it, what would be a reasonable price to expect? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)

In what condition..

Pictures and nice descriptions are nice, and we will be critical, and you will get more than we say.

2.2 is good!

Is it just a long block, or are there carbs/MFI? How many miles on it? does it have any upgrades? IE: Carrera chain tensioners, lower 930 valve covers, etc.

does it have 2,2 heads, or does it still have the 2,0 heads flycut for bigger bores ?

does it have 2,2 block oil squirters ? does it have a counterweighted crank ? does it have 2,2 S rods ?

is it an aluminum or magnesium case ? (the original Porsche engine type number will be a big help.)

T, E, or S pistons? what cams ?

there are many details, and they all affect the value.

in the absense of a full build sheet details, $500-ish for a core engine, to maybe $850-ish for a reasonably complete healthy runner. that doesn't sound a lot, but go price complete 3,0 engines -- there are LOTS of those, and they depress the values of the smaller motors.

Ya chased him off...

some people have reasonable expectations - some don't.

a big-bore 2,2T on a 2,0 case with none of the other 2,2 parts was a hot commodity -- in 1973. it could still be a deal if it was an aluminum-case 2,0 S with a counterweighted crank and S cams. unfortunately there's no easy way to verify the crank and rods - or pistons - without a teardown.

some prople have heard that "any" 911 engine is worth $5000 and it's just not true.

OTOH i heard of a 3,0 RSR engine the other day and i'm sure it was worth every bit of $30k - to someone who already has the appropriate IROC RSR to stuff it in...

i'm pricing the parts for my own 2,2 buildup right now so i know what the parts are worth and you can bet i will be documenting eveyrthing that goes into it... my set of Carrillo rods came in yesterday...

Well I got real lucky when I was searching for an original 2.0 "S" motor....the bonus was a 2.2 T long block as well for only $1,000 more....woo hoo....
