Notice the dome light in the roll bar, the labeled knobs and switches in the center console between the seats and on the dash, etc.

It's all original. This was a prototype built in 1969 before production began. They still hadn't decided on a lot of what was going into the production cars. Different bumpers, different driving lenses (I believe all prototype 914s had these angled lenses, similar to the G50 Carreras how they angled back), dome light in the roll bar, different dash, console, seats, and yes the leather upholstery looks like it was hand machined, not mass produced as there are some imperfections. The cloth upholstery was made for these seats, which are unlike the production seats. Even the rolled flares on the wheel wells are different. And obviously the quad headlights which only one other 914 prototype (no longer in existence) had. It's all different. And KEWL! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

The 916

One of eleven made, Porsche intended the 916 to be its next supercar. But lackluster feedback of the 914 at the time ceased those intentions and it never went into production. Most 916 are awaiting restoration. This 916 was delivered from Porsche to Brumos here in Jacksonville in 1972. It was housed in the Brumos Museum for years. It was eventually purchased by current owner George Hussey of Auto Atlanta. It was recently resprayed just over a month before the Concours d'Elegance.

And with the man himself, the owner of what is arguably the most impressive private 914 collection in the world, Mr. George Hussey.

Neither, actually. And it will look darker because it is. It is Blut Orange (Blood Orange). (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif)

Though many choose not to deal with Auto Atlanta (let's not start a bashing thread), we have to thank him for bringing this car down to Amelia. To have the 916 there certainly made the event special for all 914 fans. It was great to be able to see these cars up close and personal. A very nice write-up in the Amelia Island program was another nice surprise.
