Ah, cool! So you've been at Ames for a while then. It's been almost five years since I've worked there. I did flight simulation for approximately ever, and then air traffic simulation for a handful of years. In N-243, N-210, and N-257.

Jason, I believe I am running one of your engines in my 914. I bought the car about 6 years ago from Larry Rectenwauld (sp?) in Baxter Ca just above Auburn on I-80. He bought the engine from you off Craigslist. Larry said you built it to autocross and made a few runs on it before deciding to step up to a six. I have a disc of photos from when you built it. I'll post some of the pics later. Welcome back to the madness.

Did you build this engine? Runs great and still pulls strong. Did you call your car 'Patriot' as some of the pictures refer to? You can see some of the stripped down race car in the background of a few pics.

Hey Rob, I bought an ashtray and something else which I now forget from you at one of the swap meets in your area way back in the day! Small world around these small cars! (IMG:style_emoticons/default/beerchug.gif)

Morning guys! Sorry for the delay, I neglected to check "Enable emails"

What's up Rob! Yep, sitting on three 14's lol. Good memory! Heck, I have a hard time keeping track of what I have!

One day THEY WILL appreciate! I'm waiting for hover-cars to catch on!

Good to see you on here. What's your 14 status?

Yep, that's my motor! Brad Roberts (shown in photo) built that engine. I merely lent a hand holding an occasional component in place. lol I'm glad to hear the engine is still doing well. I miss that thing! If I had just hung on to it, I'd have a running 14 today. I figured by pulling it out and selling it, it'd motivate me to move faster on a six conversion. lol. Do you have recent photos of the motor installed today? Or the car? Yes, my car was coined Patriot, and Ugly. Depends on the perspective. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/wink.gif)

Small world indeed. That was awhile ago! Ashtray? I hope you've put it to good use? Perhaps I'll see you at the next East Bay breakfast / get together. Marty, Jeff, and I made a pact to do more.

You need to get out more. I know you have lots of hobbies though. I finished Dads car, picked up an ABM project. Living in the burbs with the family.

Way too many hobbies! But if all goes to plan, I'll have my house completed in 6mo's which'll free life up a bit. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) Any pics I can see of your dad's car?

Since i bought the car I have been using it as my daily drive as long as it was not raining. I have only had one problem with the engine in all those years and you can read about it here:

Here is the car it now resides in.

Hey south bay folks,

I nearly NEVER see any of your 914s "in the wild"

Mine is painted and waited for me to get some $ for some stuff.

Next buy is all the body rubber. Fuuuun. Still wondering if I should get "early" or "Late" because on the old body, the "early" let water in over the door glass. . . opinions?
