The Smart sedans are available in Canada and are supposedly on back-order.

I was told that the roadster might make it into Canada next year. My son had a chance to drive a Smart roadster in the French alps & said it was a terrific car in the twisties. About the size of an Austin-Healy Sprite BTW.

Okay so your doing 75 down the free way and a triple trailor truck does roaring by, After you get done rolling you can get out and right it.

As a big guy they look not good. Whats the safty on those things? No crumple zones, its not going to be pretty.

the Smart Crossblade (in Europe they call it this way) is a strictly limited special edition - only 2000 were made, every one with serial number on the dash/center console

the Smart V6 Biturbo was just a prototype/showcar - the engenieers wanted to show what's possible
unfortunately this car isn't for production (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/sad.gif)

Loved the pics of the Smart Porsches!
I rented a Smart in Vienna a couple years ago. It was fun to drive, plenty stable up to the 75mph that I drove it. The trans was this really weird automatic that shifted at all the wrong times. The turbo 600cc was plenty for around town. The best part is that they are so short that you are allowed to nose it in against the curb. They are as short as a regular car is wide! I don't know if they will, but I sure hope they do.

If the Smart Car had a front door like the BMW Isetta 300,
it would be like a modern Isetta! Kids would love it. (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/smile.gif)

We saw several of them and the little 1/2 fiats when we were in Italy. I think I've seen a couple in San Francisco, or it could be something similar, they were REALLY little tho...good for cities like SF, make more sense than the legions of SUVs, especially the Hummer 2, what a fucking joke as a grocery getter....

Here is a photo of me next to a smart to give you an idea how big this monster car is.
I am 6'2" this car must be like 7'.
A 914 is somewhere around 13'.
I would hate to pull up to a monster truck event fearing they might just put me on their shoulders and throw me into the mud pit, only to later be stuck on the bottom of a monster truck wheel.

I got to play with a roadster in the Swiss Alps and Germany last summer. It's cute but has NO trunk space (a case of CDs and a pair of tennis shoes is all that fits) and it shifts at the most ODD times...

So, Birgit, for those of us that are metrically challenged, how fast is 180kph in mph? About, 110? (IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/confused24.gif)
