Again, looking at parts for a car I don't even own!

Anyway....

I knew about the 3.2 VW based VR6 15° motor, years ago before I abandoned all things 914 I was in the process of fitting one into my 914, the back of the motor is super tall since that is where the timing chain and gears are for the cams, it required cutting into the rear trunk....I didn't care for that all that much. (Cayenne or SUV motor)

So today I stumbled upon the Porsche 90° V6 which according to what I've read is more or less their new V8 engine sans 2 cylinders! As of now it only comes in the base Panamera(?)

For the life of me I cannot find a used motor for sale just to get a base price on them...tons of the V8 models out there and surprisingly not that expensive....of course $5K is ton of money for a used motor but still about half of what I see some older air-cooled sixes going for.

Not a race car so not as many will be wrecked and still new-ish so you might not see many donors yet.

But they look like ass and the owners know it. So hopefully these guys will be handing their keys over to their entitled young brats and they will be wrecking daddy's family car in the near future.

What is the top motor with the largest picture?

The new v6 you are talking about I think is in the cayenne and macan also.
Might also want to look at the a6 or a8 or any of the audi and vw suvs

The Porsche V6 is being used in base panameras, Panamera S with a couple of turbos, and both current Macans, both with turbos. They just introduced the turbo V6 into the Cayenne S. Yes they are based off of the Porsche V8 and they are a true Porsche engine unlike the doggy VR6.

One thing I do see is it has a funky way of doing the main bearing saddles, there also has to be a sump.
First things I would want to know is how deep that sump is, crank centerline and overall height/dimensions of the engine.

Maybe "ass" is a strong word.

Unremarkable, plain, generic, boring, humdrum, drab, mundane, ordinary....

I'm talking about styling, looks like any other modern car on the road.
Heck they almost look like a bigger version of my wifes Hyundai Accent.
Even those who called the 911 ugly would agree it was "unique".

Try LA Dismantler - ladismantler.com - as they have a load of street car accident victims (used to be known as LA Porsche Dismantler but Porsche made them remove the p-name from their company name).

I agree the the extra high rear seat head clearance so gents can wear their hats as demanded by the then Porsche AG president gives the Panamera a "big assed look" from the rear! IIRC I read that in an Excellence or Panorama article on the Panamera.

However, their Sport Touring concept 4 door hatch shown in Paris 2012 would solve it if they produce them with the next coming Pana redesign! And if they did the 4 Dr & maybe a 2 Dr (928-redux) with the same sloping rear & 3/4 glass & roof lines, then they too would have the sleeker looking rear which the Tesla S has, which IMHO is a better looking design than that on the original & current Panameras.

A 3.4 DOHC LQ1 "ShortStar" + Turbo.

http://60degreev6.com/content.php/29-60DegreeV6-Family-Tree

Certainly more accessible than the high cost of a Pv6 for the cheep 914.

He's done a nice writeup of costs and mapping to turbo.
Something a little different,for sure.

This thread below killed any idea of using a 60° V6, whether it be Ford, Chevy or Toyota

SHO motor conversion

I would tend to think all of the SOHC/DOHC V6's would have about the same packaging dimensions.

I really like what he's done to squeeze that Ford V6 into the backbay.
Both the VR6 and the LQ1 are transverse installations, some measuring and fabrication needed for a 914 chassis.
Off the chart tho, same hacking and holing for cooling radiators as for a V8.
The 914 as measured from the firewall to axle cl is larger than the Fiero's.
The VR6 install does it for me tho,and now mit turbo.

Why not have all the flavours?

A real engineering bargain: the Ford duratech 24v v6 .
A mid '90s private Porsche Design which is still powering Fords, Lincolns, Noble gt, ecoboost Fords and even the upcoming '17 Ford gt.
Can be tweaked to 275 hp/ na, or +700 hp forced induction.
I spy MSDS headers on this 3.0 duratech Mazda6 vvt.Attached Image

Not true. The newer AL blocks are much tighter package than the old iron stuff, and the DOHC heads are huge. The biggest headache with the SHO is the IM.

Try this on for size. Nissan VQ35de RWD version, with the FWD IM and the VQ30 non-variable timing setup. Not that I've been working on an upgrade... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

A bargoon at 4k,do not fail to check the bores with a recording borescope, sniff n sample the oil.Mounted transverse with a Getrag 6,a decent induction system for the turbo to step up to serious git.
Nothing like that deal in these parts, there otto be a lineup on Monday am.A Porsche Turbo V6 powered 914,the first,a dial-a-boost for the summertime track thrash.
Haven't seen a transverse install in these cars yet, improved cg makes room to the rear and trunk.A nice clean newtech engine for good fuel economy in cruise conditions and power to snap you into the headrest at every stoplight at will.A well endowed 914. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)

Porsche Liquid cooled 4 = 944-968
Porsche Liquid cooled 6 = 911/Boxster/Panamera
Porsche Liquid cooled 8 = 928/Cayenne/Panamera,BMW M62.
Bmw Liquid cooled 10 = S85
Bmw Liquid cooled 12 = M70, M73, N73 or N74
