Again, looking at parts for a car I don't even own!

Anyway....

I knew about the 3.2 VW based VR6 15° motor, years ago before I abandoned all things 914 I was in the process of fitting one into my 914, the back of the motor is super tall since that is where the timing chain and gears are for the cams, it required cutting into the rear trunk....I didn't care for that all that much. (Cayenne or SUV motor)

So today I stumbled upon the Porsche 90° V6 which according to what I've read is more or less their new V8 engine sans 2 cylinders! As of now it only comes in the base Panamera(?)

For the life of me I cannot find a used motor for sale just to get a base price on them...tons of the V8 models out there and surprisingly not that expensive....of course $5K is ton of money for a used motor but still about half of what I see some older air-cooled sixes going for.

A 3.4 DOHC LQ1 "ShortStar" + Turbo.

http://60degreev6.com/content.php/29-60DegreeV6-Family-Tree

Certainly more accessible than the high cost of a Pv6 for the cheep 914.

He's done a nice writeup of costs and mapping to turbo.
Something a little different,for sure.

This thread below killed any idea of using a 60° V6, whether it be Ford, Chevy or Toyota

SHO motor conversion

I would tend to think all of the SOHC/DOHC V6's would have about the same packaging dimensions.

Not true. The newer AL blocks are much tighter package than the old iron stuff, and the DOHC heads are huge. The biggest headache with the SHO is the IM.

Try this on for size. Nissan VQ35de RWD version, with the FWD IM and the VQ30 non-variable timing setup. Not that I've been working on an upgrade... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/biggrin.gif)
