I've been building a 2414 race engine for my car and the old Kerry Hunter setup just wasn't going to cut it. I emailed Chris Foley and we began discussing what would be needed for my build and here it is. Turn around time was pretty fast for a custom exhaust, I ordered it a late last month. Since then I have ordered several other things from him such as his ITG air cleaner kit, his oil pressure relief assembly, a Mallory distributor, his cable throttle kit, and his new basic oil cooler kit. It has been an absolute pleasure dealing with him. Heres some pics for y'all to drool over.

Just curious about the stub setup. Do you fasten the stubs to the header for the initial fit to get everything aligned, fasten to the motor, and then after that, you only need to remove the header from the stubs to take the exhaust off?
In other words, I am assuming that the purpose of the stub pipes is to facilitate easy and frequent removal of the exhaust without disturbing the copper gaskets and fussy head studs. Is that assumption correct? Oh, yeah, very sweet pipes! |

Is that assumption correct? Oh, yeah, very sweet pipes! Stubs go on first with the copper gaskets. Then the header bolts to the stubs. There is no gasket needed between the stubs and the header as it is a slip fit. The stubs have many benefits over just bolting directly to the heads. Yes you can remove the whole exhaust and leave the stubs in place without disturbing the copper or the head studs. |

Your building a what? 2400cc fire-breather? I'm building a 80x96 /4. Comes out to 2414cc. I'm shooting for at least 11-1 compression. It will run on race fuel. It is going to be dry sumped as well. I haven't really spared any expense. We're going to need to see some proof of such a motor….. Pics please? When I start putting it all together I'll post em. |

Wow, exhaust porn! Chris' stuff is always so nice... Mike The stainless muffler and stub pipes is a nice touch. I've been impressed with everything I've ordered from him. Very , very nice! Glad to see people still playing with the Type IV and "investing" money into them...! Funny thing is I have beautiful 2.7 six sitting in the garage that I could build but I am trying to keep the car light. Maybe in a few years I'll start on it. The car does really well with its current 2056 but it's never enough and that motor is flat worn out. Sure there's cheaper options but for now I want a wicked /4. |

In other words, I am assuming that the purpose of the stub pipes is to facilitate easy and frequent removal of the exhaust without disturbing the copper gaskets and fussy head studs. Is that assumption correct? Yes, that's part of the value of these stub pipes. They're made with a taper that closely matches the actual port opening at the top and the primary tube at the bottom. Smoothing out the flow there facilitates the scavenge wave technology behind my header design. If one wants to have the heads ported and flowed, installing the stubs first is much better than doing the work without them. |

Sent out one of the stubs as soon as I got them today so my machinist can port match them. Once they're bolted on for final assembly I'll trim back the copper gaskets.

There is a subtle difference between the 1/4 vs 2/3 exhaust ports. The difference isn't just the dimpling to clear certain pushrod tubes. |
