hi,
taking a welding class. from a previous question here, I believe I was told that the gauge was 18 for the fender. when I mentioned this in class the instructor disagreed politely and stated that most likely the gauge for the fender was 22 or 24, (something like that), as 18 gauge was mostly used for cars in the 50's and earlier???? mic'd the metal in a couple spots that I can get to today and it is around .o48 so??? what is the official answer please. tks randal |

19 ga is closer to the approximate 1mm stock thickness.
However, if 19 isn't available to you, go with 18ga per Rick's advice. |

thank you for the replies/information,
when he disagreed I replied with "the guys on the forum are very knowledgeable and competitive when it comes to correct information". I even stated that the car was made in Germany, implying that, even though a 73'', it was most likely built to higher standards than American 73's''. thanks again randal |
