Hmmmm... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/idea.gif)

The LA Lit and Toy Show, March 7th?
The SoCal All Porsche Swap and Car Show March 8th?
Amelia Island March 13th in Jacksonville, FL?

It seems to me that (with a slight detour to Las Vegas) the cities of Albuquerque, Dallas and Mobile might make up a nice romp across the country.

Thoughts? Ideas? I think it would be cool to drive a 914 from coast to coast. Especially being a featured mark at Amelia. It would be nice to document it. GoPro, Instagram, Blog??? Maybe a few gear head get togethers along the way?

Still thinking about it but... It's beyond intriguing for sure.

This sounds like a great idea. I drove my E30 from where you're at (I work out at Camp Williams a lot) back home to Houston and it was a lot of fun. I can only imagine driving a 914 being even more fun!

I don't know what it is, but there's something very beautiful about New Mexico every time I pass through... I stayed in Albuquerque one night on the way back from Utah and it was pretty chill hanging around downtown.

After a few drives throughout the country (Ft. Bragg to Houston, Ft. Lewis to Houston, LA to Houston), I have come to really enjoy those kinds of trips. I dread flying nowadays...

I highly recommend Austin while you're passing through Texas. I lived there for four years during college. In my opinion, it's the best city to visit in Texas.

I did a cross country drive in a '70 Cuda. New York to Los Angeles. Worth doing. Bring tools.

Do it.... I think about it regularly. I went back and forth to school in late 60's..

58 Chevy Impala(I think), A couple of friend's totally unmemorabke sedans, two round trips in my XK-140, and one RT in a 914.

The 914 made it from NYC to Cedar Rapids IA in one day. First stop for gas just into Ohio. That trip was in 72.

Every few months I approach an off-ramp in CT and say.... I don't have to get off... There's no tracking device in the 914..... I could leave my cell phone and EZ-Pass in my office.... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif)

My wife and I have considered this a couple times. You know . . . bucket list . . . drive cross country in a 914. We always come to the same conclusion: The drive one way would be fun. But, we wouldn't want to drive all the way back once we got there. So maybe ship the car back and fly? It seems like I remember reading somewhere that Rick drove his car one way, left it for a few months, and then went and drove it home.

I have made a few long trips, looking forward to doing more as I continually get my teener sorted out. I envy you having the option to go anywhere in March or April, just not possible where I live if you want to keep your car out of the salt. I hope you do the trip and share like that guy who shipped his 911 to Europe and spent a lot of time posting his trip, I enjoyed following that. I have been invited to visit a friend in Yuma Arizona and am thinking about doing the trip in the teener, worried about the heat though, not for the 914 but for me, I think would be hospitalized in 100 degree temps!

I drove almost there and back in 2013, left Sacramento area, drove to Vegas and spent the night, then to Albuquerque, from there through Dallas to Atlanta TX, then back to Albuquerque, up to Durango for RRC, then to SLC (following Mr Shea) then through Reno and home.......12 days 4600 miles. (IMG:style_emoticons/default/driving.gif) Had a great time, despite some problems....can't wait to do it again.

Talk with Mark (aka Bartlett 914) he drove his 914 all over the USA using it as his work car for his business.

I think it would be fun, just bring tools and some spare parts (cultch cable......)

That guy was one of us. He posted here, on the World. I think the car was an RS America?

Eric's trip sounds like the old Yoder-Milo Roundyround of a decade+ ago. Joe Yoder from the DFW area (anyone hear from Yoder?) decided to take an epic road trip, and Steve Milo volunteered to go along with him. They went from TX out to here and stopped in MI (?) where the Parade was being held. I don't remember if they got to the east coast or not. The trip was several weeks at least.

They had a good time, from what I read.

Can't remember his name, maybe the story was in Panarama magazine, I think I read about here though, maybe somebody did a link you could click on. Anyway it was a real great read and lots of interesting pictures, what he found interesting I did as well. I spent 4 years in Germany and travelled around a good bit, so his trip was a bit of a ride down memory lane for me.
