Well, when I went out to rewire the fuel pump today I discovered that the rust under the passenger side was worse than expected. (Honestly, I've been scared to poke at it with a screwdriver.)
The Jack pad on the underside of the car was bad when I got the car, but I thought that was the extent of it. Today while poking at the rust here is what I uncovered. (IMG:http://home.jam.rr.com/mharrison/914Resto/Rust/Inside%20the%20hole.JPG) |

Everything else around there looks pretty solid though.. Some minor pinholes from the pan at the inner edge of the passenger longitudinal..
I'll have to see what's up with all this.... That will involve some cutting... Some cleaning.... and some welding.... All while trying to avoid being the DAPO... |

Just do it right and you wont be that guy. I have to pull the rockers on the 74 and check out underneath them. I may wind up reinforcing them just to be safe. If I do, I will document every step of it and post it so you can see what I do and decide if that is what you want also. Everthing I do will be from common stuff you can get locally. I wont be buying any body panels or replacement panels from anyone. I will make everything myself.
