I'm still cleaning up the wiring mess the previous owner made. I've almost rewired everything and everything works right except for a few things I'm not sure of:
Could you guys answer some function questions I have: This is a 1970, 914-4 and I know theres some differences from newer ones and I only have a '73 owners manual; 1. Should the red light for the handbrake flash or just remain lit when the brake is on? 2. Should the headlights raise on the first click of the headlight switch while only lighting the running lights? 3. Should the foglights only work with low beam? 4, Shoud the green directional indicators flash with the emergency flasher going? They'll be more but this will really help for now. thanks, |

The handbrake light should flash. Headlights don't come up until the second (headlights on) position on the switch. By default, the foglights only work with the low beams. (Most people change this). Both turn signal arrows in the tach flash with the hazard flashers. |

I thought that the early cars (up through mid-71??) did have the headlights raise when you pulled out the headlight switch to the first notch? I know the later ones did not, but I thought there was a difference with the early cars.

(IMG:http://www.914world.com/bbs2/html/emoticons/agree.gif) i also sort of remember that the hand-brake light on early cars did *not* blink like on later cars. it just comes on and that's it. it's been soo long since i had the '70 wiring in my car ... The handbrake light in my '70 doesn't flash. The manufacture date was 6/70 for referrence.
