Stock fuel injection on a 2400? From what I've read on here I dont think that will work very well, you need to go carb or EFI.

Need more info on what else is in that engine but I'd definitely say get rid of that 009 dizzy, they aren't meant to run on 914 engines. And I agree, stock D jet isn't going to get you very far with a 2.4....talk to Mario @ Dubshop about Megasquirt setups. Or Nate at ProVolks is a great resource in your area.....http://www.aircooledtech.com/provolks/

(IMG:style_emoticons/default/agree.gif) - shed the dizzy, go with Mallory, a decent SVDA, etc. And the stock FI won't feed it. Beyond the Monza muffler, stock heat exchangers or headers?

Im running a 2056 with dual Weber 40's, stock 2.0 heads, Webcam 86 cam, SVDA dizzy, stainless heat exchangers, magna flow muffler. A common build, but overall, a nice improvement over the stock 2.0. Took a while to get the carb jetting worked out, but once I got that they have been easy to maintain.

Ok,

the stock Djet with tuning runs a 2.4 liter motor, proven to work, by me.
I had to know cause everyone said it would not, but when you look at the specs, it should. Indeed it works, runs, drives, does everything it should...but the camshaft keeps it restricted.

Couple of facts.
With Djet, you need the Djet EFI trigger points in the base of the distributor, so you are not running djet.

With Ljet, you need a firing signal from the points, so it may have Ljet.

Ljet is easier to tune for a 2.4 liter motor.

On the cheap, I would source a used ljet distributor to give you a better advance curve and get it back to stock.

The tuning will be tricky, but it can be done if you do some research.
Combination of a resistor in the CHT circuit, and adjusting the AFM will get you with a race ready 2.4 liter motor, running Ljet.

So, take more pictures, learn more.

You ahve a 71mm crank and 103 Mm pistons.
ITs just shy of 2.4 liters.

Check the head casting numbers to see what type of heads you have before you throw too much money at it...
Remove the valve covers, the head number is inside,
Take a pic, post it here.

103s tend to overheat with stock cooling hardware. so to a 2.4

Like you I've always heard beyond a 2056 you need to move away from D-Jet or L-Jet, but unlike you I took it as gospel. Thanks for the info.

Rich, does the 009 even have trigger points? I thought it was a dizzy for carbs.

Sounds like a non-beginner engine here. But that isn't a reflection on the poster, just the motor sounds like a handful.

Good luck with the cool motor.

As for what people have, I built a 2056 with stock FI a modified cam, and modified (aluminum chopper) electronic ignition from Crane. Biggest mods were A/F and CHT gauges. Still runs too lean or too hot, your pick. But it's my favorite car. Yes, my wife's van is faster, why do you ask?
